Barclays stopping my mum buying a house

Hi
My mum is an expat pensioner in Spain and right now I'm in the US on holiday. My mum is leaving Spain and buying a house in the UK. My mum has banked with Barclays for over 40 years and I have third party access. Unfortunately Barclays refused to give me internet access so I have to log into her account as her to make transactions for her (she doesn't know how to do it).
3 weeks ago we tried to put down a large deposit, as my Mum is in Spain I logged into her bank account as her using a VPN (so it looks like I'm effectively in the UK). I got her to ring up the bank and check the transaction later as they stalled it. Sadly against my instructions she told them that I helped her which put a security flag on it. In the end she was able to do it herself by phoning the bank every day and transferring £15000 a time until complete, but she had a lot of hassle doing so going through several departments and layers of security.
Now we need to buy the house. I will be back in the UK next week and she will still be in Spain. We have lost all confidence in Barclays to make this transaction. We are worried if I go into a Barclays store and make it happen next week it will be stopped again and the only option will be to transfer £15000 at a time which will take ages, and we will miss out the completion date and the office clerks will just shrug their shoulders.
Any advice?
Thanks

What is "third party access"?Overactively underachieving for almost half a century0
-
Your mother should fly home and transact the business in branch. Your activity is a hinderance rather than a help.0

A Barclays store???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Your mother needs to show up at a Barclays Bank branch.
It's never a good idea to try to do stuff like this remotely.
Have either of you even seen this house? Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

1) Yes she's seen the house and wants to buy it. I'm not sure how this is relevant to my opening post.
2) I'm unable to post links I'm sorry so I'll paste the text they have here.
Thanks for response but can anybody give me advice? Maybe has been in the same scenario. Maybe it can be preauthorised or something.
Third Party Access (also known as Third Party Authority) is an agreement that enables you to allow a trusted individual (the ‘nominee’) to access your accounts, pay your bills or withdraw cash and act on your behalf.
Talk to your nominee, so they understand exactly what you would like them to do on your behalf. Make sure they read any paperwork and account terms and conditions for any accounts they will have access to carefully. Ask if they have any questions so you are both on what you would like them to do.
Agree with your nominee how you would like them to access your account, eg a debit card, Telephone or Online Banking (we cannot limit the amount of money the individual could access)
You can cancel the nominee’s access at any time in writing or in branch
There’s no need to register Third Party Access with a relevant authority and it can be set up in a local branch
Useful for customers who want to:
Allow someone to help manage their money
Choose the account(s) their nominee can access
Control the way their nominee can withdraw cash and make payments and transfers (ie in branch, by phone, online or using an account card)
Ideal for customers who are:
Going abroad for long periods
Over 18 and going to university
Looking for help to manage their day-to-day banking
Your Nominee CAN
Access your transactions and request a balance or statement
Request a statement to be sent to either party
Order a chequebook or credit book
Hold and use a debit card for your account – if you’ve agreed to this
Your Nominee CAN’T
Change the account type or your name, address and contact details
Open or close accounts
Make changes to or apply for products or services
Access any documents you've stored with us in Barclaysafe
Authorise us to respond to a Status Enquiry Request or disclose any of your personal information
Make a claim against us or log a claim on your behalf
Use your card and PIN to make payments or withdraw cash, even if you’ve agreed to this
Order a debit card for you if you don’t currently have a card
Personalise your debit card

Maybe the latest US expression?
I think the OP is referring to a third party mandate. Why the OP was refused internet access in his/her own right is unclear.
After several attempts Barclays eventually told me it was policy not to give internet access to customers that have third party access. Thanks Barclays!
In regards to "Barclays store", that's what they are nowadays in my view. They are hardly banks any more just people who ring up head office etc..and all they want to do is sell products.
But I digress from my opening post.
I also forgot to say my mum has just had a hip operation so travelling is difficult. I'm trying to help her avoid travelling. Even if she travels to UK I'm not sure they will do the transaction in time and stall it for days.0 -
I think it is clear that you have been doing things that you are not allowed to do: Third Party Access does not allow you to spend the money in the account. So it is not at all surprising that the bank has flagged up these transactions as suspicious.
As others have said, if your mother is serious about buying this house then she needs to show up in person at a branch of Barclays, with her passport, and ensure that things happen correctly.0 -

Barclay's are only protecting your mum's money against fraud, you should be happy about that. Not blame them for flagging her account when they found out that someone other than her had access to it. For all they know you could have been fleecing the money for yourself.
It's your mum's fault for letting it slip you had access, not Barclays.0
