Simple answer is to not get married, as it stands at the moment marriage is a complex legal contract which is difficult, time consuming and financially onerous to break, and not needed in the slightest to be in a happy, lifelong relationship.

That's one way of looking at it. No marriage, no affairs.

But that doesn't make it OK to cheat, married or not. A lack of respect and selfishness causes people to cheat, if you're not happy, say so and split. Then have a relationship with someone else.

Indeed, I was simply pointing out to the troll poster that such a law was easily circumvented.

I have been thinking of this, if it's punishable by law, then people won't do it. It will result in happy families.

That has to be one of the most naive back to the dark ages thing I've ever heard.

I can think of a religion where this is already practised if you want to live like this, you may have to move country though or exact these punishments undercover because they aren't tolerated here,

So you all say that this shouldn't be considered as a crime. Fair then, when your partner decides to signup on sites like ashleymaddison is it lawful?

Yes, I would kick him out, but I wouldn't want him being arrested for it. Would anyone? I mean, if you have kids you would potentially be putting them in the situation where their standard of living would go down because one parent would be in jail and not earning. Plus they have the stigma of having a parent being arrested and appearing in court etc.

Can you imagine the stress it would put on the police?! All those jealous insecure people constantly reporting their spouse because they were spotted chatting to a member of the opposite sex.

My ex cheated on me, that's why he's an ex. He's not a criminal though.
