Should extra marital affairs be classified as a crime?

I have been thinking of this, if it's punishable by law, then people won't do it. It will result in happy families.

What punishment would you suggest if found guilty?

I have to say that's a very simplistic view. If only things were that simply there'd be no murders, muggings, drink driving, racism, discrimination, domestic violence, bullying etc etc etc. And the sun would shine all day long!

Murder, rape, drink-driving et al are all crimes 'punishable by law'.
It doesn't seem to stop people committing those crimes.

I can't see having an affair being any different.

50 lashes or maybe stoning to death?

Those punishments would only be for the women though, because we all know that she will have used her evil charms to lead the poor man astray.

Yep & we've overcrowded jails all bearing testimony to that solid truth.

Meanwhile the lawyers will be redefining what constitutes an extramarital affair at thousands an hour, since the MPs won't be able to form a coherent view having their own peccadilloes to protect.

And sometimes a fire goes out but the paperwork isn't completed. Hanging matter, it isn't. Plus the "evidence" will be as sordid as the allegations.

People would still do it. It would just clog up the police and courts even more. Its a moral crime maybe and in some religions/ cultures, it is punishable but still goes on.
If my partner wanted to cheat but the only reason he didn't was fear of punishment I'd still be gutted!

Is sex outside marriage always a bad thing? Some couples have an agreement that allow them to have relationships elsewhere, and such an arrangement results in a happier home life.

Your views are simplistic and should be punishable by law. Maybe then you wouldnt post such views which will result in happy discussion time.

Damn its not even in that part of the forum.

    No.
Humans aren't naturally monogamous. Culture, religion and history has made monogamy a big deal.
Its love and loyalty that keeps people happy and faithful, not fear of punishment.
