If you type www.barclays.co.uk into the address bar of your browser that'll take you to the correct site. You are wise in not relying simply on Google results for this type of thing - or maybe I'm just being overly paranoid !0

You dont trust a reputable search engine with algorithms and filters to identify a legitimate link, but you trust a bunch of strangers, any of whom could be a fraudster, to post a link on an open website forum?0

Strange as it may seem i do have a brain and the the two posters before you have given me useful information. Its not 'Google' i have issues with but its the websites on there.0

Probably the easiest/safest way is to either visit a branch or to call the number on your statementRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

That is always my starting point, not that I don't trust google, but the advice on security always used to be to type sensitive web addresses in full rather than use search engines and I'm not convinced there is any reason to change.
Some banks suggest the use of free software like 'Trusteer' when doing your online banking for added protection over and above any anti-virus software you use. If the site is one Trusteer knows about, or is one you've told it is ok, then you get a green icon next to the browser bar. It is a handy way of checking you've got the right web address, but as ever don't just rely on that for your security.
Barclays also use a card reader for security, if you don't already have one you should ask for one and expect to wait a week or so for it to arrive."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
When we switched to TSB we phoned for an appointment first, then went to branch and setup all the online banking as a joint account with both of us having separate access and cards. As Seniors, we found this much easier to carry out and we walked away having nothing else to do but set up our passwords, etc, online. Once you have done this, you will find the inconvenience factor is ended. If you have a printer, you can also go 'paperless', downloading and printing your statements.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Although if you print the statements yourself it isn't exactly 'paperless' and all you are doing is transferring the cost of printing them from the bank to yourself - the banks won't mind that though
Unlike TSB I don't think Barclays offer any incentive to customers to go paperless, other than having the warm fuzzy feeling that you are slightly reducing the consumption of recycled paper

With Barclays you do at least get Kasperky IS free for 3 devices once you have registered for online banking with them.
This is way better than Trusteer as it doesn't keep being flagged up as scamware by the likes of Malwarebytes and Cclean.Never Knowingly Understood.
