Sending loads of positive energy your way, and hoping you can find a solution to the 'real problem', also hoping that it's just a 24 hour bug and the little ones are better soon. XI Believe.....

Big hugs to you. Fab news about the headteacher’s award… Lovely end to what sounded like a tough week for you. Hope the little ones are feeling better and you manage to keep away from the bug.. I remember I missed out on going on a ‘fun-day’ one year because I’d had perfect attendance but ended up with an ear infection so had to have a couple of days off.. I remember being gutted about missing out and thought it was really horrible of the school as I even went and got a doctors note with my Mum as I was desperate to go (I believe it was to laser quest, funny what we remember!! :’)) – schools can be harsh on children sometimes and I feel it just encourages us to go in to work/school when contagious… We should be encouraging not to spread illnesses – especially when vulnerable people are involved! Sounds lovely to do a little treat for them if they manage perfect attendance for the rest of the term. Whilst I understand the premise behind schools rewarding 100% attendance I do sometimes think it penalises children who are striving to be their best but get poorly! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I agree, I feel a bit bad as youngest will never achieve 100% attendance and I know she will feel left out because of it
This is DD's first day off in nearly 19 months! But obviously she will lose the 100% for the full school year now as it runs Sept-July. I think we will do our own little surprises if they attend everyday possible IE. not just a sniffle or feeling tiredDS is a bit like the boy who cried wolf so I feel a bit mean for not believing him right away
They all seem a lot better now and just have the 'hangover' from it. Girls should be back to school tomorrow and DS Wednesday. Fingers crossed they'll all have been 48 hours clear then.
Made a real good start on the to do list so sitting with a cuppa while the smalls are colouring. They have requested a different dinner tonight than on the plan so think I'll let them choose what they want as a one offI will turn into a cafe no doubt :rotfl:

Sounds like you are having a busy time, I hope your smalls are all better soon.
My DS was poorly the week before half term so will also lose his 100%, I'm not sure how I feel about the awards for attendance, if your smalls are sick they can't go in to school for 48 hours so I think its unfair to penalise them for this. I know that they help in the long term preparing children for work and everything but children can really be affected by having to miss a day or two through sickness because they know they will lose whatever reward they would have got.Change the way you see things and the things you see will change0 -
I don't think with primary children it is a very fair system. They are little and building up immunity so are more likely to catch things. It definitely makes them attend when they shouldn't. Can see the reasoning behind it but you are almost penalised for being ill. Saying that my eldest went through the whole of school from Infant to end of Secondary with 100% attendance. He was just lucky, Chicken Pox in the Easter holidays, sickness bugs weekends and in those days you only had to keep them off for 24 hours after sickness. I seem to remember sending him in with Bronchitis once though. Naughty Mum!
So there is definitely an element of luck involved!0 -
Hi hidden do sorry the little ones have been ill. Fingers crossed they are a well soon.
Just to give the opposite story, my two boys both had 100 per cent attendance last year at school and nursery and no one even mentioned it at all!! I was quite surprised!
We are due some illnesses this year!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Thank you for all the replies. EG last year they got a flashing bouncy ball for the years 100% and a certificate. I expect DD will be in tears about missing out when it comes round but DS isn't as bothered
He wouldn't go if I didn't force him :rotfl:
Speaking of DS he has had his Xbox removed because of his back chatI now need to stand firm and stick to it! He's had some right bad attitude these last few weeks and silly remarks. Getting too big for his boots
As you have probably noticed I'm back online with a phoneI think I've done it right :rotfl: Mine is still dead
I plan on leaving it in rice in the cupboard :rotfl: I can't bring myself to chuck it in the bin
All smalls are fed and bathed, just reading school books then heading to bed.
12 more days until payday and I already owe out more than coming in :eek:0
