Where does our tax money go?

Perceived problems, now that is interesting.
Perhaps the tax take should increase for Company's.
I just pointed out that Britain has less to spend on society. If you are happy with everything I am very pleased for you.
Forgive me if I am unimpressed by a debater persistently unable to master basic English, despite a forum spellchecker too.
It does not promote confidence in your intellect and hence in the accuracy of your debate.
I do not want to sound unpleasant or like forum grammar police, just saying it as I see it. We all make occasional mistakes, but really?
The plural of "company" is "companies".
You did that (and a few more too) in your OP.
Perhaps you might like to spend a little more time proofreading prior to posting?
Any way - regarding your points I see the "perceived" part has been responded-to already.
So yes, your alluded-to issues were perceived and not factual.
As a country we can choose whether or not to increase taxation and thus funding.
This is one factor of the many issues surrounding Brexit since the EU determines issues around VAT for example, such as what items VAT is payable on.
So Britain "has less" as you phrase it because we choose to have less.
I suspect that - as our GE soon will show - I along with a huge majority am indeed generally happy with my lot. I am after all much more fortunate than so much of the globe's population, as indeed are you.0 -
Here is a perceived problem in Education.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/school-funding-350-headteachers-crisis-point-government-a7725426.html
"Just under half, or 49 per cent, of headteachers surveyed warned that education funding was at crisis point, with some saying they had no money to buy basic resources like dictionaries."
"“In three years' time, when your child is being taught maths by a PE teacher in a class of 36 and there are requests being made, by me, for you to fund certain parts of your child’s option choices at Key Stage 4, that’s when it’ll matter. But it will be too late then," Michael Ferry, head of St Wilfred's Catholic School in West Sussex, told Channel 4 News."
If I read of a Lack of funding issue in Britains schools should I consider it is not true. That a surveys of Head Teachers about school funding is flawed because their perception is wrong!There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Strangely their are perceived problems in the NHS as well.
But let's sweep that one under the carpet together with the perceived problems in Prisons and standing room only commuter trains,
My point all along has been that many Brits and much of the media regularly highlight these problems and strangely I had come to the conclusion that these were problems that the majority wanted fixing.
I have only then gone on to point out that Britain does not have the funds to do so as the overall tax take is low.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

So you're saying Teachers are too expensive?
You might have a point.
We can probably stick kids in front of a collection of YouTube vids produced over in India for much much less.
After all, it worked for IT services, didn't it.
Globalization, dontcha know...it's the new miracle cure.0 -

And here are the facts, the world's top 20 for education:

2016 actual ranking:
UK = 6
Netherlands = 10
Germany = 13
France = 19
No mention of Luxembourg?
Oh well.
The estimate for 2017 is there too BTW.0 -

It is the job of the media to sell their stories.
Bad news (whether factual & entirely correct or not) sells.
Good news however does not make a good headline.
And yet again, we choose to make the overall tax take low.
The fact that you ignore previous comments about this in your own thread will not have been missed by others either, I suspect.
That is not to say that the UK is perfect.
Show me a country that is?
Given however your place of residence why not concentrate on your own difficulties?
Education in Luxembourg is (for example) said to be, and I quote, "horrendously expensive"; why not use your taxes to offset cheaper provision?
Your welfare too is recognised as being unsustainable; why do you not do something about that?
http://www.sgi-network.org/2014/Luxembourg/Key_Challenges
Luxembourg too has prison uprisings, so your system too is imperfect it seems:

Oh look, you can have crowded trains too:

I said on another thread, you're beginning to look like the forum equivalent of a double glazing salesman.0 -
Thank you for the update. However it is a little early as Britain has not yet left the EU.
Oh.
Does this then infer that all the "problems" you discuss at such length are in some way the fault of the EU since we are still members?
Or at least that they have not been eased by our membership?
You really cannot have it both ways.0 -
I have only then gone on to point out that Britain does not have the funds to do so as the overall tax take is low.
The fundamental flaw in your argument is that GDP cannot be taxed. In the same way that revenue does not always equate to profit. Profit does not equate to cash.
You form a party and set a manifesto out that raises taxes for all to fund your plans. Then see what the reaction is.
Even the renowned brain surgeon Dr Henry Marsh. Has said of the NHS. The more money you spend on healthcare. The longer people will live and the amount of care they will require will increase. This requires even more money to be spent. In effect spending money isn't the answer. Making choices is an option. Quality of life for example. Not easy to arrive at solutions but a debate to be had.0 -

Why do we care about what the EU does now that we are leaving?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
