Where does our tax money go?

A lot of it goes on funding an nhs that is being taken for a ride by a lot of health tourists.
And what right someone that lives in Luxembourg has to question what we do with our money I have no idea. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Having low tax rates is all very well but if you have an economy in which companies (eg Anazon) do not pay their fair share of corporation tax, citizens avoid paying income tax (by various clever and barely legal tax avoidance measures and cash in hand deals) and avoid VAT by accepting cash in hand payments, it does not matter what the rates are as they do not pay them.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0

whats in other @ 15%?
Is protection just police or is that MI* etc?
It could be argued that pensions, health and welfare are all 'welfare' just in various guises - this is where we need to cut IMOLeft is never right but I always am.0 -

With a small population low Corporation tax rates aren't really an issue either. Hopefully the EU will address this by standardising rates across Europe. Stopping all the under table dealing that goes on.0 -

Here is a pie chart which shows exactly where the money goes.
British people just love to complain. Whether the complaint is factually justified or not seems to be irrelevant.
I honestly think that people have no idea how things work in the rest of the world. If you live in another country for a few years - especially somewhere a bit further away than France - you'll soon appreciate that the UK is great in many areas (while realising that we are behind in other areas you might not have considered).0 -
A few of these complaints fall away when you look at them by comparison to other countries. For example ..Poor infrastructure, roads, rail, airports bridges etc.NHS is underfunded.Corporation Tax is too high.0

The UK is a fairly well run country.
Its easy to complain but most things in the UK are cheap abundant and high quality.0 -

As you yourself say though, tax is already thought to be too high, so how do you think the UK public would feel about that rise?
You see?
You may indeed see and hear grumbles - try asking those grumbling how they feel about paying more (you won't even have to mention the word "tax") to get those grumbles resolved.
I suspect the answer you get would include the word "off".
Perceived problems, now that is interesting.
Perhaps the tax take should increase for Company's.
I just pointed out that Britain has less to spend on society. If you are happy with everything I am very pleased for you. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

When a government takes 36% of GDP of one of the planet's richest nations as tax and spends all of it plus copious borrowing on top we should be expecting excellence. Fairly good or not bad isn't good enough.0
