Don't know if this will help you but I just noticed on the letter advising changed t&cs for BOS the following info:
"From June 7 June 2017 you will be able to do more of your banking at the Post Office...
Deposit cash & cheques
Deposit cash or cheques into your account at any PO that provides a full counter service.
You'll need a paying-in slip to deposit cash or cheques and you can ask in one of our branches if you don't have a paying-in book containing these.
To pay in cheques you'll also need a cheques deposit envelope, which you can get at a Post Office or from one of our branches."

The PO does not have paying in slips for the Nationwide - andI very much doubt whether they hold them for BOS either !!!Katiehound wrote: »To pay in cheques you'll also need a cheques deposit envelope, which you can get at a Post Office or from one of our branches."

Cheques are an archaic payment method and if it wasn't for people stuck in the past they would have been abolished in 2018!.0

No, the PO does not have paying in slips.I didn't say it did.
As I wrote - the deposit slips come from your bank. Generally they come in the form of a paying- book of slips. Like a cheque book
The deposit envelopes are supposed to be available from the PO- but this is from June 7 (for BOS), not now.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Cheques are necessary for paying workmen etc - they don't tend to have card readers with them - and many don't appear to have bank account numbers available (so can't pay by transfer) - and cash is not safe to hold !Cheques are an archaic payment method and if it wasn't for people stuck in the past they would have been abolished in 2018!.0 -

Then those workmen need to move into the 21st century. Or you need to choose ones who have already done so.0 -
Don't those card readers need a signal?0
-
They do - this is the reason why cheques are still needed !!
No it isn't. It is simple and reasonable to establish means of payment before choosing the provider, I've not come across one yet that won't accept an electronic transfer if arranged in advance. (except small beer like the window cleaner who has his 15 quid in cash). The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
