Let's all be real. For most here it's either savings/owning a property paid for or buying a brand new luxury car. It's a sacrifice you all make. If you can't do both: save, buy a property AND buy a brand new luxury car while still having disposable income then sorry no, you can't afford a flash brand new car

But some of us have a property that's paid for, money in the bank, a car and disposable income.

Well what is your annual income?

How is that relevant to anything? One can have a relatively low annual income but plenty of money in the bank, property, disposable cash, and brand new cars.

Did no one ever tell you that it is vulgar to ask about income?

Mind you, since you're years away from having a job and owning a car, you probably wouldn't understand that.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I hate it when people say: 'I drive a cheap car because I don't care what other people think and I would rather spend my money elsewhere'. You drive a cheap car because you can't afford a nice car, simple as.

I don't have a car, I drive a small combo van because I have multiple dogs and it suits them better.

My last (company) van was a complete shed, around ten year old when I sold it, ex Royal Mail van that was fading to the pink colour:D and elicited looks of pity:rotfl:.

The only reason the Company changed it for a 7 month old Vauxhall Combo was the old one had no air con and I had a dog with respiratory problems that couldn't cope with the heat:o. I'll run this one into the ground.

As for running around in carp vehicles, well in the last 18 months the company has bought over 300ks worth of vehicles for cash, no HP, no lease. If i wanted to pull up at work in a flash car I easily could, but I really CBA.

I did have a Vauxhall 220 turbo from new, but it hardly ever got used, so I got rid of it.

I think some of us just are not bothered by a flash motor, some people are; each to their own and all that.

What's wrong with asking for annual income? I earn 50k a year and I do own a car, fully paid for thank you very much. Even on my mediocre salary I cannot afford to buy a brand new flash car.

    Mine's not a "banger" ... I bought it 2nd hand (4 years old) at £6k (from memory).

I've now had it 7 years. It keeps going through the MoT, so no need to even think about changing it.

I'd guess it's worth £1000-1200 now... but you never really know until/if you actually sell it.

My next car won't cost me so much.

Nope I like a new car and if you know where to look you can get amazing lease deals! Currently driving a new Golf R, no deposit and £149 per month including VED. Can hand back after 2 years and pick something else. Depends on your situation I suppose and if you like cars or just see them as means of getting from A to B. My weekends are often spent detailing it and other friends cars which pays for the costs of my car.

I currently drive an '05 Honda Accord Exec 2.4 litre automatic that is fully loaded

It's a £700 shed! The engine hasn't been maintained properly, and I think you've got wheel alignment problems or something from another thread? And still no custard...

It will be well gone now pal, through motonovo in December. I'm a member on a car forum and all members post the best deals. Some of them are ridiculously low, I'm tempted daily! :rotfl:
