Sometimes I'm so busy, I never stop from the second I open my eyes till the second I fall into bed. Other times I have quite a bit of free time.
I'd second the idea about volunteering. I dont usually watch tv much (usually just films/documentaries) so instead I try and give advice/help on MSE's consumer rights board, I volunteer with a dog charity/rescue and I am also treasurer/volunteer for some local community groups. Can be a bit of a pain trying to juggle it all sometimes but I'd prefer to use my free time in a way that might (hopefully) impact positively on someone else.
You could also - if you have any elderly neighbours you speak to - ask them if they need help with anything or offer to do their shopping for them.
There are numerous things you could do that would kill some time, be productive and not cost you any money. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I looked at your profile.

Do you live where you work? (On the farm) Or elsewhere, but rural?
We are both in our early 70's, have a ds and dd, 4 grandkids that we see regularly. We both have walking difficulties, live in a rural village and get out for walks whenever we can, wrapping up warm if it's cold. Today we were out and about, looking up local places on the internet we remembered a large park with a lake, gardens and an aviary. We spent a day walking slowly around there and really enjoyed it, had a nice cuppa and a toasted teacake. Next weekend we will go to a Stationary Engine and vintage car Show in the country, take a walk around the local country.
A long time ago, we started looking up the details of different trees, birds and animals that we saw, after photographing them and checking back at home. Indoors: I am currently recording all my massive CD & vinyl collection to a NAS and another Hard drive. I maintain PC's and other stuff for family & friends and my missus loves jigsaw and other puzzles. We are both looking forward to rehoming a retired guide dog, after sponsoring a dog in training.
You could use the wekend to contact Guide Dogs and offer as a volunteer: that's just one voluntary activity. However, with 5 children, I really don't see how you have so much boring time on your hands: why not take at least some of them out for a walk? Find a local park or free attraction, get you and the kids out in the fresah air. Wrap up warm, cold air of Spring cannot harm you!
I think your real problem is dissatisfaction with your life, maybe a lack of money means you can only equate "things to do" with having no money. You don't need lots of money to have an activity. You just need the impetus to research the 'net and find some free attractions around your home.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Art galleries, museums, parks, beaches, hills, literally any bit of countryside...
Read, write, paint, garden, create, learn a language - there's so much to do for free or next to free that you really have no excuse.0 -
People are trying to offer constructive advice and thoughts, but you seem to block them. Did you want the reduced hours or was it forced?
If you are that bored then join U3A or something and print out a timetable to populate.0 -

I've been cooking yesterday and today so the freezer is stocked and we have nice meals for the week.
Do I do the ironing next or nothing. What a choice.
It's 1.30 and I've nothing really to do until I go to bed.
This is the downside of having no money.
Please don't suggest going for a walk. That will take up an hour then what???
What is the actual point of weekends??? Xx
One of those "No money so how can I be entertained" people?
Money is not needed to enjoy life.
First thing you could do is a bit of research into 'Change of Attitude' and then you might feel more inclined to do something other than complain.0 -

The DuoLingo app is free and fairly user-friendly. I expect there are also other language-learning apps out there. It takes up about half an hour a day, I'm getting on quite well with it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. OP, do you allow yourself to relax and "do nothing" sometimes? It's one of the things weekends are for.
I work full time and aside from chores like ironing, gardening, car washing etc, a priority at the weekend is to relax and sometimes just do nothing. This Sunday I had an hours snooze on the sofa after coming in from the garden - bliss.0
