I'm sure there are some people who would love to have the luxury of being bored.
Absolutely! When the kids are all in bed, then I need to finish the housework, do my lesson planning, walk the dogs, tidy up the chaos that kids make...
Obviously my days are spent doing stuff with the kids or cooking...
The thought of having nothing to do is wonderful! I consider getting an hour with a good book an absolutely luxury!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Oh God, I love doing nothing! Will enter loads of competitions later. Maybe give that a try? It kills hours very quickly. I've also just made some shortbread. I work long hours 5 days a week and love just watching telly and catching up with things on the weekend2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

I've recently cut back from 50+ hrs a week to 20 ish. Really noticing the difference. Be careful what you wish for x0

it sounds like you're in a period of adjustment OP, I think the good news for you is the better weather should be around the corner for the next few months, giving you time and options to find something for you to fill the hours you used to spend at work.
Yesterday was a bit poop weather-wise here, I did a bit of housework and then absolutely nothing for the rest of the day, watched some rubbish on TV, read a bit, did some internet surfing, had a sandwich, etc etc just pleased myself and I enjoyed it. But the reason I enjoyed it is because I don't get to do it all the time (I'm at work 5 days and we usually have plans one day of the weekend).
What would you like to do?0 -

I've been cooking yesterday and today so the freezer is stocked and we have nice meals for the week.
Do I do the ironing next or nothing. What a choice.
It's 1.30 and I've nothing really to do until I go to bed.
This is the downside of having no money.
Please don't suggest going for a walk. That will take up an hour then what???
What is the actual point of weekends??? Xx
If you don't think much of weekends, seemingly because you are short of money, why not get a job for one, or both days? Give you something to do and raise a bit of money?0 -

I recognise how you're feeling.:) I went from 60+ hours a week to nothing when I chose early retirement. I didn't miss the work as such but I did miss the routine and my 'work ethic' made it hard for me to relax. Like you books are for bed or even, in my case, for sun loungers!
It won't help you today ( as a short term fix I'd recommend trash tv) but I think the answer is planning ahead. Make plans with your family and friends (when they get back from holidays) to come round to yours for a meal on a Sunday.
Try to take up a hobby so that you're busier in the week then weekends won't feel so empty. You could volunteer for something or join one of those health walks.

It is hard to find entertainment if money is really tight. I'm not sure how tight but I'd suggest taking on mse as a challenge:money:then any savings you make could be spent on meeting up with friends on future Sundays for the cinema or the pub or whatever you enjoy most.
Good Luck.:)0 -
Do you like things like sewing, or painting/drawing etc? Learn a new language? Do a jigsaw puzzle..
Maybe there should be a thread (this being a money saving website) on activities you can do that don't cost anything.0 -
Does this happen every weekend? You could take up volunteering? Plenty of opportunities from outdoor conservation work to charity shops, animal charities, museums, national trust etc You will be busy, meet new people and some roles reward you with time credits you can spend on things like swimming / theatre etc so you get something back.0

I'd love to lose a day or 2 at work. Might manage an afternoon when we move. Can you think about moving if you don't have enough money to enjoy your time off? I'm moving to a cheaper house in a nicer area - not downsizing. More spare cash to enjoy life and/or have Fri PMs off.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

Volunteer in something you love - I do football and its great. Gets me up early on Saturdays and I find myself running up and down a touchline screeching like a banshee and clapping wildly for kids that aren't even my own but its good for the soul0
