well, they mucked a few up when they transitioned from the old world MC and tried to blame the customer so it wouldn't surprise me.

I asked Barclaycard bluntly via making complaint route about the £50 credit. A CS representative called me and literally sworn on his own life that not a single customer with Barclaycard Amex was given £50 credit. So I left it and closed the complaint.

The annoying bit to me was that not all Barclaycard Amex migrated at same time with some still have until September afaik.

It seems like Amex is trying to cut all ties and having customers directly with them so they don't have to share the cut with other issuers.

I have escalated to the ombudsman, it is the principle that they are treating customers differently that annoys me.
    I think....

I was one of the lucky ones that received a £50 credit. I said earlier in this thread in my opinion they shouldn't have paid me anything as far as I'm concerned I didn't have a valid complaint, but since they were handing out £50 notes thought I'd grab one.

I won't blame them for not continuing to pay out though and they no doubt don't have infinite £50's to hand out. I didn't mention this thread to Barclaycard- but others did and as soon as they were aware they plugged the hole in their trousers- I find it hard to blame them for that, that said I do agree they shouldn't be treating customers differently- they'll just say it was customer goodwill and that they treat every complaint on its own merits, they will get away with it.

Can anyone tell me how quickly their new visa card came through? My online account indicates the account has changed over but no sign yet of the corresponding card. I have messaged them but I thought I'd canvass here to see how long it took.

I do have my new AmEx card but I'm off to London for a long weekend and would like to have visa as well. I can pay cash for the minority non-AmEx stuff but the MSE in me doesn't like doing that when it gains interest in my current account

I'm in the same situation. The letter they sent originally should show the date you will receive the replacement by. My sister had a date of receiving the new card by 31st July and her card came on 26th July if that helps.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately I shredded the letter so can't check :o However I've since discovered I can easily get the PIN for my emergency visa card so all is not lost - well except 0.5% cashback but I can cope with that

Unless I'm missing something here, your old Amex and Visa will still work as normal for a few weeks anyway, and your PIN will remain unchanged.

As an example I purchased from Groupon today quickly went through checkout and afterwards realised it had automatically charged my old Barclaycard Amex - I won't get cashback on it - but it went through ok, there's always a few weeks crossover.

AFAIUI the old Visa card should still attract 0.5% as well - but I'll be checking those few transactions carefully.

I hope so but just in case I have the emergency visa too. Chances are I won't need it as so many places now take AmEx
  • Is anyone else's Barclaycard Amex still working ? Mine is and I'll keep using it until it comes up declined.
