Apples,
I do dried rings in the oven sometimes which are nice and suitably healthy. Store in a clip lock tub and add to packed lunches
I bulk bake a batch in their skins, core out then stuff the middle with dried fruit and a little sugar. I freeze them individually and keep them as puddings for me.
I used to juice them and freeze the juice but its a lot of effort for my cranky hands
I make an apple slice thing that might work for you - works really well with gluten free flour as the texture has more bite. I made a jam and coconut version last weekend with the doves gluten free and it was really good. Recipe is hereMy mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Loving all the lovely apple recipes coming. Most of the fruit are small red eating apples with a big core and not much flesh but I am determined to get what I can out of them, I am sending DH into the garden to collect more of the bigger green eating apples as these have more flesh on them. I will be putting back on that half stone I lost in no time
We got loads done today. We wont get the list completed by tomorrow as I am taking DS to training in the morning while DH paints and then he has a homework assignment to complete. I always put more on the list than is possible to do in the time I have to do itPriorities tomorrow are decorating bedroom/putting rooms back together, food prep, order blind, clean stairs and get everybody ready for next week.
I feel like we have spent lots of money today. DS got given £10 for helping DPIL so added it to his pocket money and bought a toy, not my money but used my card. Spent another £23 in M&S Food though I can't say any of it was real food except some YS GF savoury tarts for lunches and a ys loaf for DH, another £20 in Asda on beer and ys GF bread and £70+ on a massive tub of white emulsion, a lampshade and door handles for the bedroom and en-suite. Returning the curtains did knock £65 off the debt balance I suppose.

I have had to order another tin of paint as the bedroom walls need another coat. With the plaster being new the walls have soaked it up even with the base coat on. I wish I had opted for the 5L tin in the first place as this has ended up costing us another £11
DH reminded me late this afternoon he is away tomorrow night and late back Tuesday which means we are going to have to work flat out Wednesday and Thursday night to get the room finished and the other rooms sorted by Friday morning. The room is looking fabulous though
I will not order the blind until the end of the month now as I have spent my budget on paint and it wouldn't be here for the end of the week anyway. It should cost about £42 made to measure.
DH has mowed the lawns and I have made sweet and sour chicken (for tomorrow's tea before DH told me he was away, will keep until Tuesday), gammon as part of a roast dinner (saved meat and cooking water for soup), 2 dozen banana and choc chip cookies and enough stewed apple for a generous crumble for 4.
I've also finished the washing, done some more ironing, been to DS training, deep cleaned the bin, helped DS with his homework, done the dishes and loaded and unloaded the dishwasher at least twice, fed everybody, made numerous cups of tea/coffee and gawd knows what else. I am now officially cream crackered.
I have come to the conclusion that while I enjoy a sunday dinner with pud on a Sunday and don't mind making it, Saturday night's dinner needs to be frozen pizza or something quick and snacky. No-one really wants anything and we always seem to run out of time.
We have arranged with my Dad to go to see them next summer. We were hoping to stay with them for a few days and then get a caravan on a particular site close by for a week to 10 days. I went on to book it and there was only 1 caravan (or a tent) left but it was to start a couple of days before we wanted it so will only stay with Dad for 1 night. We will see him a lot while we are there. £99 deposit paid and Folkstone hotel booked too.
We now have nothing spare in the budget for anything extra until we are next paid.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

If only I had one of those Thistle, I might actually have a clean house most of the time in stead of now and again :rotfl:
I have an unexpected day off today having woken up with lips like Kim Kardashian and a rash all over. I have had an allergic reaction to something I think. I feel OK but it has meant a day off as nobody wants you in their business in case you're contagious! First day off sick in about 5 years  The antihistamines have taken some of the swelling down but still itchy.
Is it wrong to be pleased I have an extra day to get things done?:o
We have decided that we are not going to move the bed into the decorated bedroom as it will have to come out again when we put the second coat on and it is a nightmare to take down and put up. It means the room won't be finished for the valuation on Friday I will have to try and sort the other bedrooms as best I can. 2 will be fine but the 3rd will have the bed and mattress in it.
DH hasn't spent any money on fuel so far this month due to using some different cars but will need to fill up today as he is driving to a course. I think there may be some wriggle room in this budget which will cover the blind.
Going forward I am going to concentrate on our family diet and food budget. For health reasons I want us to eat better and I am guilty of missing meals and eating rubbish especially when working. Food is something we also overspend on so focussing on this area should help both of my goals of eating better and saving money. We are doing OK this month so far, £162 on groceries and £35 on school dinners for the month with 17 budget days left but could be doing better.
Plans for today are:
1) Make pea and ham soup
2) Prepare some more apples as there are more on the trees to be picked!
3) Buy stamps and post cards (need address from sister for one)
4) More ironing
5) Vac stairs and landing
6) Have a good look for IVA completion certificate and mine and DS passports
7) Dust and vac our bedroom
8) Tidy DS bedroom and make bed
9) Strip our bed and spray with allergy stuff and remake with more clean bedding
10) Clean bathroom
11) Post what information I have to the broker
If I get all that done I will be chuffedBetter get on with it as it is nearly 10am!

I did the above and put a big pile of ironing away in the morning then felt really ill and sat watching movies Netflix all afternoon. I was in bed for 8 last night and still not well todayHope to be back tomorrow, I couldn't have picked a worse time to be ill and off work
The mortgage broker is going to see if they have the completion certificate on file. I did sort out 6 small drawers yesterday and chuck a bag full of rubbish and old receipts but not found it or my passport.
DH course was cancelled yesterday so he was home last night which messed up the meal plan a bit so it was breaded chicken and chips for DH and we will have the sweet and sour chicken tonight as planned.
I'm hoping to get some more of my list done today but will take it easy.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
