eBay vehicle scams- jack buster

I just don't understand why the person concerned didn't just start a thread. I don't understand , it's almost as though they don't feel that that gives them enough status or have I got that wrong?
If he wants to help people he could have simply started a warning thread himself .
He's not allowed to.
Not only was his post deleted, his whole account was deleted!0 -
So are you saying that JB know that they are maligning innocent people?Yes, the license plates are legitimate. How do you think the scammers put any legitimacy into their practices??
I am aware of how number plate thefts work, in fact my number plate was stolen a few years ago and it was a pain to sort out. What would have been more of a pain is if a random anon collective started posting my licence plate next to the words scam and fake, that would be a complete nightmare to sort out. My point being is that regardless of how the criminals operate, it does not justify the way in which the JB blog is representing the information.
My main "evidence" (do I need to be sworn in?) is the JB blog/fb page. How are these not good enough given that you have referenced them yourself? If that's the only evidence you have!
No, I don't. But I know it's not 100% which, even with the best will in the world, means innocent people in the crossfire. But you don't know what his accuracy rate is.
All of my statements have been backed up. If you'd like to point out exactly where you believe they are not, I'll be happy to clarify. You cannot back up any of your statements so you are as guilty of the same practice you accuse him of.
[STRIKE]Just taking a moment to appreciate the irony of making up statistics immediately after criticising people for not having evidence.[/STRIKE]Regardless, lets say his accuracy is 95%. (I have no idea what it is, but he keeps very detailed records and would know this figure). Lets say there are on average 5 scams a day on eBay each with an average value of say £4k. Over a month that's £56k a month. 95% of that is just over £53k.
OK, lets go with that statistic which would mean 13 innocent people a year who have their ads/accounts directly named as fakes/criminals and a total of at least (I say at least because many JB blog posts list more than one person's legitimate info) 260 innocent people a year who have had their information plastered on the internet next to the words 'Scam' and 'fake' for everyone to see.
I would be curious as to why these statistics, if they are kept, aren't being published? Surely a high success rate is a very good thing that would be shouted from the rooftops. I would have thought a non-profit committed to raising awareness would jump at the chance to share such information.
If wanting to encourage tackling and raising awareness of scams in a safe and responsible way that doesn't harm innocent people makes us "strange", I don't want to be normal. And you think its far better to attack that level of fraud, and the amount of people who might have parted with that level of money, because you don't like his practices.
You guys are strange!
Edit for typos, probably more hiding in there.A witty saying proves nothing0 -

But you're taking the top line out of context. Read the rest of the post. It clearly states what it is.
Care to show us where it says the company name was used by scammers and the legit company were not involved?

Foolish to think that you can only have credibility if you decide to have your own domain to do these things.
Hiding behind an anonymous blog. All the credibility of the flat earth society.

The only thing i believe on the internet is myself. I am the one to be trusted
But, I am not pretending to not be someone.
Is there are 5 scams a day then im guessing you will only know about 0.1% of them and thats being generous.
100% success rate of what exactly? Clicking report on ebay?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Regardless of the arguments later in the thread, Martin Lewis seems more than capable of finding his own campaigns and projects. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Just looked on the website, what a badly set out/hard to read website. It just appears to contain a load of carp, 4 mins of my life I will never get back.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

This is exactly where you don't get it. These scammers are criminals, and dangerous at that.forgotmyname wrote: »But, I am not pretending to not be someone.
Oh, I see! The best way to expose their practices is to to do it with my real name so people (like these dangerous criminals) can track me down and get rid of me!! Of course!
My guess work was all about eBay. If there are 5 motor scams a day on Ebay, JB would get them all.forgotmyname wrote: »Is there are 5 scams a day then im guessing you will only know about 0.1% of them and thats being generous.

This is a problem, a very real problem.
But don't you guys worry about all those people who are losing a lot of money (because they should have all come here first for advice - ha ha!), or some half-arsed website that you all poke fun at! You're doing a great job stopping this practice. Keep up the good work guys!

This might be a good start to learn about scamming. JB even has a little educational piece at the beginning! I'm sure that has many more views that your educational posts!0
