eBay vehicle scams- jack buster

So he came up with a quote that would get attention. There's still no scamming involved by any ordinary sense of the word.0

As the term vigilante is a perjorative term , I doubt that was his plan and it was only one small article.0

I don't blame MSE for not wanting anything to do with this. Taking the law into your own hands is great till you target someone innocent
Oh sorry I thought the guy Jack Buster was doing people a service, and getting people their money back when they have been scammed off eBay or had money transferred out of their account into a mule account.
I for one have been watching the good work that he does for a few years now, and although I am a bit nieve at times, I thought someone like Martin Lewis would have jumped on this if it saved people from getting scammed and losing money.
I hope none of you get scammed and need his help0 -

There are lots of people who post on this forum who are saved the upset of being scammed because they ask for help and the collective guidance here gives excellent advice, without scamming the scammer.
Did you get scammed?0 -
The problem is that you only ever hear about the successes. You don't hear about the people who don't get their money back. You also don't hear about the innocent people who get wrongly targeted.
If MSE made up a story that a supermarket was selling fake goods, they would be held accountable for their actions and rightly so. Who makes sure Jack Buster is not doing anything they shouldn't be?0 -
One of the scam car sales you mention on your blog appears to be a genuine business why is it a scam?
Registered at companies house with accounts etc.
Curious on that one. I wont mention the name. I assume you already know which have geniune registered names.
Facebook (oh my)... i need a facepalm picture. So much junk on there will anyone really take notice? You need a rethink on your strategy.
As mentioned above you want to work for paypal/ebay etc? There are options open if you have the right attitude and in my eyes you dont.
Trust me i do have my moments, but i can be professional when the call arises.
Ebay do have schemes in place..Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
usually the car company ones have had their account hacked, this happens numerous times usually by a phishing email or something of the like to get the login details, and this isn't made up i have seen it countless numbers of times.
Facebook face/palm...? sorry but as sharing platform facebook does a lot of good, then again you need to have friends on facebook to share items of interest such as this.
As regards Jack having the right attitude? really.
Why if you can be professional at times would you come out with such a statement?
If you read what Jack Buster and his team had achieved in helping people over the years you wouldn't make such comment.0 -
The newspaper reports have been explained, yet I am still troubled by another quote by you where I've seen you say to someone
" No one else can help you"
Also you surely should be expecting people on a forum who are wary of scammers to be wary of you? You surely would be trying to educate others not to believe everything they are told, or of people who are evasive?
I still can't figure your motivation particularly after seeing you asking ebay to pay you.0 -
So basically this is how it works. I see a car for sale far less than everyone else. I get told to pay thousands of pounds for a car I have never seen by bank transfer to a complete stranger. I ignore not only every single piece of advice ever given on buying a car, but general common sense. Yet it is my bank (who I have instructed to transfer the money) who is to blame?
I really don't understand why eBay and Martin have not given Jack some kind of award. I am going to start a petition that the Queen gives Jack a knighthood. Screw it, lets get rid of the Queen and government and put Jack as supreme ruler of the UK.0 -

It has to be someone elses fault, we are now such a snowflake generation that we can no longer take responsibility for our own stupidity. My own view is that we need to teach finance and common sense in schools, instill it in people that they must look at the safety of anything they do that is 'remote' , if they send money, can they get it back if it goes wrong, if they sell something, can that buyer claim their money back at all and if so what proof do they need to prevent it.
Educate, teach, keep an eye on friends or relatives that are perhaps vulnerable , everytime someone tells you about how they are sending £2000 for something via bank transfer, sit them down and warn them, make them think. Keep this and other forums on MSE full of warnings, remind people that scamming is an industry, forget the money you are going to make, look at the potential losses instead.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
