  • Evening everyone,

The little one and I took the bus to soft play today, entry was free for him but I bought us both lunch at a cost of £4.90.

We walked back home from there and this evening we went for dinner with my sister and niece. We went to the pub where they have 2 for 1 mains so I managed to keep my costs down to £8 for the meal.

Total spends for this month so far are £72.36/£310. A bit higher than I’d like considering we’ve not even got through the first week of May.

Cashed out on a couple of survey sites allowing me to make a payment of £3.71 to the credit card.

I’ve received an email from the library stating I have two books I’d reserved to collect, I’m going to have to start reading faster!

Thanks calling14 :) he slept for nearly 4 hours in the end and was his usual chirpy self when he woke, had some toast and a bit of banana and not throwing up so hopefully he's over it. Went to sleep quickly tonight too.

Foxholes My hubby does that too! Toilet roll on top of the bin when it needs recycling anyway and washing on top of the linen basket - just lift the lid!

A good day but I had a bit of a spending spree.

    Positives
    I
had 6 hours sleep (would have liked more but needed to get up).

Some exercise - pushing mum around the infirmary. Mum has noow been discharged from the eye clinic, the infection is cleared (left eye is more or less useless but right eye is very good). Took water with me and we each ate one of my emergency banans whilst waiting for the taxi home.

Negatives (temporary setbacks which will spur me to greater efforts)

Put back the weight I had lost - this was expected. Explained my doctor's visit earlier in the week. New healthy options counsellor asked a few questions and I dumped a whole lot of stuff I didn't even realise I was carrying round. We are going with the doctor's strategy of increased walking (booked in for a walk with them on Monday) and healthy eating and trying not to get stressed about anything else.

Spending spree. Had a look round Oxfam and bought 3 cross stitch magazines for 29p each. Selected from about 25 (still as many again to go through). Put the change in the Drought appeal box. However I then went across the road to BHF shop and spent over £27. I now have 2 new dresses, a lacy vest top and a Ghost waterfall cardigan.

Then bought a puzzle book, cooking bacon (no-one had it in stock last week) and a sandwich (so I could go straight to bed when I got in).

The main expenditure was on clothes and this is not a problem - I have over £130 in my £2 cow money box which is for clothes spending. I have also discovered that the leggings I wore yesterday are getting thin (had a t-shirt and summer cardigan on and kept separating in the middle) so some replacements and/or thing that cover my bottom are needed. however it does illustrate why we have NSDs - a spend of 87p escalated into a mini blow out. I will go and sit on the naughty step (I may have a little sleep).

Today I am grateful for time spent with mum, for the new advisor being supportive, for having my positive head on ( think I went as low as i could and am now fighting back), for emergency bananas, for having done everything I needed to do this week and being free to sleep now and sleep late tomorrow, for my new clothes.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

A spend day today as I needed some toiletries.

Today I'm grateful for another sunny day, a quick and productive day at work, homemade scones, a chat with a friend and the lighter nights.

not an NSD but did use a voucher for dinner out with my son
Thank you for the lovely park-based free fun suggestions. I think I'll head out with him tomorrow so OH can get on with the garden.
I've done the budgets for the month and it's not looking too bad. Half term comes at the end of the month but I'll be paid mid-week so even if money hasn't stretched it won't be for long. Must factor in a long drive down south for my gran's funeral into petrol costs :(
Exercise is going well - I'm trying out a few classes to see what I like. I've also signed up for a 10k race for life in July and I'm going to train properly for it.

    Grateful for :
My son and his hilarious sense of humour
    Uncomplicated love
    Yoga
The ability to enjoy life and not sweat the small stuff

Hope you all have fabulous weekends x

Mothernerd - youmay be on the naughty chaise longue, but I envisage you dressed elegantly doing your cross stitch whilst there!
