Odd that the poster is concerned is now claiming knowledge of PIP descriptors, whereas they previously claimed complete ignorance and hence the failure of their own claim.:)

It could be down to his claimed dementia or alcoholism or what other ailment he has that is made up.

I suspect poppy12345's point may be that the DM (auditor) does not instruct the assessor to change what they wrote. As I understand it they make the decision themselves and amend the award accordingly

It would be helpful if you could support your assertion that they do tell the assessor to change their paperwork with solid evidence and supporting links

    Thank you

The 'auditor' has nothing to do with the Decision Maker. Cases are selected at random by the assessing company BEFORE the report goes to the DWP. The Decision Maker gets to see the report AFTER the contents have been audited. The purpose behind this is to ensure that the assessor gives the right justification to the points they suggest should be awarded. The Auditor checks that the assessor hasn't missed something or has been too lenient on the evidence given. Hence in the case I quoted the auditor made a point of saying that the assessor missed out the connection of driving a car and the claimant's statement that they could only use a microwave to cook - if they can drive a car they could cook!

I know a lot more than you give me credit for! At the time of my PIP claim I knew nothing. Since receiving the refusal notice I have carried out extensive research into what the descriptors mean, how they are interpreted and how to progress a PIP claim from filling out the PIP2 to being able to deal with a face to face assessment if one had been organised.

I just needed to know WHY my claim did not progress any further than the assessor just looking at it and telling the DWP that I was not entitled to anything.

I was confused as to why going from indefinite DLA (HRM & MRC) could have happened - call it an autopsy.

    Fine

Have you got links/proof that the auditor instructs the HCP to change their paperwork if they find such discrepancies? I'm genuinely interested to know whether this is the case as I am sure the DM doesn't as I said.

I understand the difference between DM and auditor (which is why I mentioned both of them) but you tend to make a lot of assertions/comments without any supporting evidence.

I thought I'd balance out all the negative threads about pip and offer some positive news. My dla was ending so i was invited to apply for pip. I filled out the forms, had a face to face earlier in the month and heard today I have been awarded standard care and enhanced mobility.
So there are some good news stories out there!

Thanks for your post OP, as usual the thread has been derailed by our resident troll aka Andy aka 30 other user names, please ignore him folks.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

Just one of many posts that I have picked up on over the years....
... At the time of my PIP claim I knew nothing...

Some contradiction, surely. All those posts you "picked up on over the years" and yet you "knew nothing":rotfl:

I'm glad to hear that your dementia improved after all and you're now able to cope with and understand new information, analyse it and remember it.

It's good to hear people's success stories. It gives the rest of us hope.

    It's a bloomin miracle!

Because they thought that a well educated person like yourself would not get an employee from the dwp to complete the form and then realised that you were trying to blag the system and therefore did not qualify .:rotfl:

    Post reported!!

Has it? Miracles do happen - maybe I could ask my GP to contact you for a second opinion?

The evidence is supported by the posts that people make on other forums when they find that the report has been amended by the audit department post F2F assessment. Just Google it.

I know a lot about a lot of things, but knew nothing at the time about how to fill out the PIP2 form. I just didn't understand how to convert my problems and difficulties into words to answer the questions on the form.
As an example when asked if I could walk a mile the answer is yes.
But now I realise that you are supposed to temper it by telling the assessor/DWP that I could BUT to do so would be dangerous to my health, it would take over twice the time an ordinary person would, I would have to stop every 10 metres to recover and start again and that I could only do it once in a week due to how it would make me feel.
