It's one for the 'Houses that look like Hitler' thread.

Four in my postcode (two are caravans) but only one actually in my village - a studio flat for £95,000 that is sold.

Yep it's Eastwood but still under Leigh - ie no actual obligation to mention 'Eastwood'. If you check on the RM postcode finder, it only gives Leigh on Sea as the address.

My aunt and one of my uncles live in Eastwood.

I'll be south of the London Road so 'proper Leigh' (actually maybe Chalkwell, but again not actually obliged to use that as it's not officially an area as such, although I prob will if we're that side)! :)

Postcodes are misleading. My postcode includes Hockley, Hawkwell and Hullbridge. Hullbridge doesn't have a station and is miles away but still shares the SS5 postcode.

  • 98 results in my area. The house we're buying just now is £70k. Typical 3 bed semi for less than £100k http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-57305524.html

Appreciate that, my mum's postcode includes Chigwell, Chigwell Row, Hainault, Grange Hill and you'd expect them all to be mentioned on an address. Not saying Eastwood isn't a separate town, just that it falls under that SS9 Leigh-on-Sea postcode. Really just quoting what came up on Rightmove.

I was agreeing with you.. ;)

You'll like Leigh on Sea. If the parking was better I'd live there.

56 out of 450 properties within 3 miles of here are under £100k. Most of them flats/apartments/maisonettes, plus some small terraces.

Prices at the bottom end of the market are falling. Landlords are trying to sell on their properties, and are finding that there aren't any buyers for the smaller houses/flats. The people currently living in them can't afford to buy. And the people who can afford to buy want somewhere bigger.

Ta :) Parking was #1 on the list, but we're considering crossing fingers if at the Chalkwell end (the block of streets between Leigh Road/London Road) as it's not so quite so busy (I don't think!). It's a tough decision... Shout if you know otherwise!

If you have access to a drive it should be OK. I'm a bit further north in Hockley so parking isn't an issue but it's a different vibe and we're burdened with having to get to work on Greater Angrier.
