In Grimsby there are 388 properties for £100k

Do the people in Grimsby earn enough to buy those properties??

Most houses in North East are investment properties bought by people around London (because they can't afford in the South East).

The same way Saudis/Russians/Chinese are driving out local people from London property market, the cash rich Southerners are buying properties in up North and pricing the locals out of the market.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

I'm in the Bridgend area and there are 219 properties at 100k or under. They're not in the nicest of areas and the 3 beds are quite small.

This flat's ok, if you don't mind having a kitchen in your living room, and Broadlands is a nice enough area. The estate agent went a bit overboard with the photos though, taking pics of lots of random areas in and around the block, then mixing them in with pics of the actual flat. <rolls eyes>

    3 bed terrace.
    4 bed terrace.
  • Amazed to find this but it is being sold at auction and the guide is £100k so I would bet it'll go higher.

Other than that, there are a couple of one bed retirement flats

I'd love to see the evidence backing this claim up....

What you state is almost an oxymoron..

In my area of Staffordshire you can buy a 1970s semi (not ex-LA) in good condition, with three bedrooms, large garden, usable garage and drive for £120,000. One nearby, needing new windows, drive, kitchen and bathroom went for £105,000.

A two bedroomed Edwardian terrace , modernised and in good condition is often under £80,000, as is an ex-LA semi with drive or 1950s semi .
