I thought it might be interesting to see what is available in other areas for £100k.
In Grimsby there are 388 properties for £100k or less

Not very appealing but 105,000 for a whole house seems ridiculously cheap to someone from the SE.

In my postcode there are two 1 bed retirement flats, and three pieces of farm land.
TBH I was surprised to find any residential property.

It is quite a nice looking field0 -
I am in the Guildford area and the only things under £100k are mobile homes, shared ownership places and retirement flats!

Oh, and this little bit of woodland, but I doubt you would be allowed to live on it.

Actually, there are several tiny bits of land for sale, but I doubt any would get planning permission and they are too small to put a horse on. I wonder who would buy 1/4 acre in the middle of a field?

In a national park you're lucky to get a blade of grass....0 -
There are plenty around where I live for less than 100k, I'm in Sheffield. Yes houses prices in London/South are high but shock horror the further north you go house prices tend to drop. Not sure why this is a surprise as it is generally reported in the media that house prices are sky high in the South East but not so in other places.0

Ignoring retail, industrial, garages, auction, etc...
Nothing in Chingford where I live
One high-rise flat in the outskirts of Leigh-on-Sea where I'm looking (on 6th floor - suggested BTL so prob not likely to get a mortgage) http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-65492207.html
Doesn't go far in the SE these days!

A lot of my postcode is actually outwith the NP boundary.
But you are right, crossing into the NP adds at least 40% to the price of a property.0 -
Only 1 in my postcode - not a house but a plot of land with planning permission for 2 x 1 bed flats.
