End of contract talktalk

Options
Hi have been looking at my talktalk account to find out when my broadband contract expires, but it gives no information at all .I got intouch with them by phone and it took the sales person 15 minutes to tell me that my contract had expired nearly 3 months ago . They hadn't informed me by email or post that my contract had ended but continued to take payments, are they allowed to do this.

Have you been using thier broadband even though your contract has ended?

You'll have likely been put onto a rolling 31 day contact which will end when you give notice.

    Hi geoff1057

Once the contract is finished the service will continue to run until the customer lets us know what they are wanting to do :)

    Thanks

You remain under contract, what has ended is the minimum term, before which you would have had to pay early termination charges to leave.

I was about to write something similar, but will add that the provider is neither obliged to tell you that the minimum term has been satisfied nor to tell you that any special price has ended. They only have to tell you of increases in the full price.

But the contract does not finish, it simply reaches the end of it's minimum term. If the Company Rep uses the wrong terminology, how can the customers be expected to do so?
OP, the provider is no more responsible for advising you of the end of minimum term date than is your house insurer of advising you that your policy is about to lapse.

Surely a company rep should be able to use the correct terminology. The contract runs until either party ends it, but the minimum term usually ends after 12 or 18 months.

I believe that you should have used the words 'minimum term', as there is no fixed end date for the contract.

Earlier last month i was having problems with my internet connection ,and really bad crackling phone line, had to phone talktalk to report the problem on my mobile , kept me on line for 35 minutes at a cost of £15 for the call. Have been with Tiscali/talktalk for as long as ive had internet,(some years) rang for a quote, two people gave me the same quote, giving me a discount of £2 per month . Thats loyalty at its best. Time to change i think
