Internet banking and Power of Attorney help please.
It can be straight forward to register power of attorney with a bank if you have everything to hand. You will need the original or a certified copy of the LPA (our solicitor kept the original but gave us certified copies) along with your ID (passport and driving licence easiest). You also need to know whether the LPA allows you to act "jointly and severally" i.e. as individuals, otherwise you will need your siblings with you.
I have recently registered Power of Attorney for my mother-in-law with HSBC, Nationwide and Virgin Money. Nationwide and Virgin Money were both straightforward as I popped into their branch with the certified copy and my passport and driving licence as ID. They took copies of everything to send to Head Office and I received confirmation back within 7-10 days including access to online banking.
HSBC is a different matter as I went into branch over 4 weeks ago and I am still waiting for confirmation. I've now escalated this to their complaints department.
