  • Hi

We're looking into this for you and replied to your PM this morning. Could you get back to us on that as soon as you're able to?

We deal with reports when they're sent in to us and look to check context of complaints as much as we can with the information provided. It's because of this we need our forum members to provide us as much detail in reports as possible so we have a bigger picture of what you think is happening.

If you feel you're being specifically targeted by other members please include this in your report.

    Thanks!
Could you do with a Money Makeover?

Just to let you know that BG's cannot ban posters. We report them the same as everybody else.

But we CAN delete posts that we feel are either off topic, spam, or that abuse other members, and we do.

But as said, only moderators can ban users from posting altogether.

Interesting that you say BGs can delete posts for being off topic, how do you personally decide that? Abusing other members, again how do you determine that? Moderators? It's always said there are no moderators?

You have to use common sense and follow predefined guidelines, normally we dont delete posts, we leave that to the MSE moderating team, but if its obviously spam, or very offensive, or way off topic, then we can and do delete, or close a thread, at out own discretion.

Perhaps then the post about what BG's can do should be updated as it says nothing about deleting posts apart from spam. It does say they can close a contentious thread and report to the forum team. If you delete a post for being offensive or off topic do you then pm the user to tell them which post in the way the FT do?

I certainly have seen a BG close a thread and say its been reported to the FT but it concerns me the thought of BG's deleting posts on their discretion unless it is obvious spam.

As I said, normally we don't delete posts, I usually only delete obvious spam, I leave the more contentious posts to the MSE team to moderate, as you rightly say, it's not in my job description.

Actually you said we can and do delete posts

So it's either something you are allowed to do or it's something you aren't. And if it is, then surely the FAQs need to be updated

Also you mention moderators. There's a huge post in FAQs saying that this forum is not moderated for legal reasons. Is that no longer true? If so then the FAQs really do need to be updated pdq
  • If reporting is such a waste of time then how is it that a so-called reputable member member can join again under an AE, make a single post and then report me for being someone that I am not and get me banned with no warning?

You are obviously not one of the favoured few. You must try harder to brown nose the inner sanctum and get on the good side of the bullies until then they will see you as fair game.

How do we do that?
