How often and how many powerpacks do you buy them?
    One a day?
    Two a week?
    Monthy?
and do you have to buy them in a limited time?

It varies. Special Powerpacks are released at the rate of around 3 or 4 a month. They are available to buy for around 5 or 6 days

Some powerpacks such as jumbo or simple saver are released every month and available to buy all month

I like the idea of Powershop Pro and I'm thinking of switching. I'm just wondering whether this is the right time of year, though, with larger monthly bills soon to be upon us.
If I switch now will I have the opportunity to get good Powerpack discounts for the winter months?

    Thanks for any information...

Indeed. Now is the perfect time to switch. Discounts are at their highest from now until February

Initially, I would buy all the Special Packs and Future Packs you can. Do not buy Baseline Energy top ups - they have no discount at all. Also, notwithstanding what I said above, I would hold off buying the March Future Packs on offer at the moment, as the discount level is really poor. You might be able to build up sufficient credit to cover the March 2019 billing period by building up credit from Powerpacks with better (higher) discounts between now and the March billing period.

Thanks, fewkeste, that's useful to know.

How soon after switching do you get access to Powerpacks?

The amount of time before your online account goes live does vary. Once your online account is live you can buy Powerpacks.

If you read back on this thread a few pages you will see that someone reported going live in a very short time period (around the two week mark I think.)

In my case because there was a problem with my previous supplier, I waited about 10 weeks but that would not be the norm.

When your account does go live, buy all powerpacks offered (with the exception of the poor value March Future Packs of course.)

You can learn a great deal about being an efficient/effective Powershop customer by reading this thread from the very beginning. It may seem a slog but you will be much better informed if you invest the time in gleaning the valuable knowledge in this thread.

Also, when you have an online Powershop account, things will become much clearer.

It's not as bad as you think. It's more work than a simple 'pay the same direct debit every month' type of situation but once you're up and running it's child's play to keep on top of things - honest.

Your bills are paid every month from a 'pot' of credit you create. You add credit to that 'pot' by buying powerpacks that Powershop offer. These Powerpacks are chunks of credit for your pot offered with different levels of discount.

You decide if you buy or not. More experienced customers (like myself) will limit our purchases to Powerpacks only offering good levels of discount.

Once you have built some credit up in your pot (account) you can be more selective over which powerpacks you choose to buy. For example I will no longer buy powerpacks with less than 18% discount if I have enough credit in my account.
