I think it's because I've now been with powershop for over a year so may only apply to me.
However my anniversary was June 4th so its took some time to revise my tariff. New terms will apply from August 21st for me
New prices will follow a couple of months later0 -
Here's my email it's headed 'changes are afoot... But don' t worry'
Hello,
We're just writing to let you know about some changes that we are making to your tariff. You've been with Powershop for a while now and as one of our valued customers, we wanted to reassure you that we think this change will be of benefit to you.
Here's how it will affect you
We're changing your tariff from a 'Standard Variable Rate Tariff' to a 'Baseline Tariff' . The Baseline Tariff is a fixed rate tariff which will give you greater certainty and protection against rising energy prices. This means, unlike a variable rate, if energy market prices go up, the price you pay per unit of energy will stay fixed. Your standing charge will also be fixed, (find out more below), so you'll always know where you stand.
Your Easy Saver Promise will end when you've been with us for 12 months
When you joined Powershop, we made you a promise: The Easy Saver Promise. It's the most you would pay for energy over the first year that you're with us and it will be coming to an end shortly. Once you've been with us for a year, the Easy Saver Promise will no longer apply, but with 12 months experience under your belt, you really won't need it.
What happens next?
From 21st August 2018, you'll see that your new tariff name will be shown on your bill but there won't be any change to your prices for the next couple of months. We'll be in touch again within a month or so, to let you know of all the different options available to you.
In the meantime, if you need more information, please take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions below.

P.S You can still buy Powerpacks in the same way you always have and continue to make great savings.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my tariff changing?
We're changing our current Standard Variable Rate Tariff to a new fixed rate Baseline
Tariff to give our customers greater certainty and protection against rising energy prices.
What is a Standard Variable Tariff?
A Standard Variable Tariff goes up and down based on energy market prices. So, if the price
we pay for our energy rises; the price we charge you may go up too. The length of the term
is not fixed, and there's no guaranteed end date.
What is a Baseline Tariff?
Our new Baseline Tariff is a fixed rate tariff, so if energy market prices go up, the price you
pay per unit of energy won't change. All new tariff will have a fixed term of 12 months.
How will this affect my standing charge?
Your standing charge will also have a fixed rate for the whole 12 month term. So, you'll
always know exactly where you stand.
Can I still use Powerpacks with my new tariff?
Yes. Once you've been transferred to our Baseline Tariff, you'll be able to carry on buying
your energy with Powerpacks in exactly the same way as before. Any Powerpacks you buy
will be discounted against our Baseline price.
What will happen to my Easy Saver Promise?
When you joined Powershop, we made you a promise: The Easy Saver Promise. It's the most you would pay for energy over the first year that you're with us. This will continue, unchanged, for the whole of your first year. After that, it will no longer apply, but with 12 months experience under your belt, you really won't need it.
What will happen when my new Baseline Tariff comes to an end?
When your new Baseline Tariff comes to an end you have three options: You can move to a
new Baseline Tariff and carry on buying your energy with Powerpacks. You can transfer to
Powershop Lite and pay for your energy with fixed monthly payments. Or, if you really want
to, you can switch to another energy supplier.0 -
I had the same email recently. I then sent a question to ask that if I was going to be moved onto the Baseline Tariff, would the level of discount of Special and Future Packs and their value improve to the level of newer customers that are also on the new Baseline Tariff? I just got the following reply:
Thank you for your email and apologies for any confusion caused.
This email is just to let you know we are currently in the process of rebranding the model we currently offer. The model will work in the exact same manner, however the names for each tariff will be slightly different with the Standard Rate being referred to as the Baseline Rate and the Easy Saver Rate being referred to as the Top Shopper Rate.
Once your first year with us is up, we will look at adjusting the tariff rates you are offered, however any changes to these rates will be emailed to you 6 weeks before any changes are put into effect so you will have plenty of times to consider your options going forward.
If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to contact us via email or on the phone number below.
Best wishes, Ifziean
Thanks

So, I didn't get answer to my questions.0 -
No it doesn't answer the very important question does it. Will our discounts increase in line with those of new customers who are already on this new baseline tariff which is quite a bit more expensive than our current tariff due in part to the horrendously high daily standing charge. I also have absolutely no idea how to calculate unit rates when a sliding scale of standing charges is used. I thought the days of x units at yp and the balance of units at another rate were far behind us. Seems not0

Why don't you ask the same question I asked? I originally asked why newer customers were getting better Special Pack and Future Pack offers (both in % discount and value of the packs offered.) The explanation I received was that newer customers were on the higher 'baseline tariff' and after discounted Powerpack purchases our net costs would be about the same.
So, it follows that if we long standing customers are moved onto the new 'baseline tariff' then we should also enjoy the higher discounted Powerpacks and a greater value worth of them - but will we?
The problem is we have to stay under the new regime to find out if we will. If we don't then our net costs will be higher than the next most competitive supplier.
I would ask the question and see if you get the same nondescript reply I did, or if you'll get a more detailed answer.0 -

Can you post what % discount, number and value amount of January Future packs you are being offered please? Also what % discount and value August Simple Saver are you being offered? It would be good to post your annual consumption as PS now seem to tailor all Powerpack values to annual consumption (they never used to with Future Packs)
I am being offered an August Simple Saver @ £11.70 worth £14.30 (18.2% discount) and two January Future Packs @ £16.36 worth £22.60 (27.6% discount.) My annual consumption is 8000kWh.
Last year I was offered £50 of January Future Packs worth £65.25 (23.4% discount.)
So, last year £65.25 worth of discounted credit for £50, this year £45.20 worth of discounted credit for £32.72.0 -
Exactly same discounts as you. Smaller amounts on offer simple saver 4.63 for 5.66 worth
Jan futures are 6.54 for 9.04 worth
My consumption is 2907 kwh0 -
My two January Future Packs are £10.41 worth £14.38 (27.6% discount). My annual consumption is 4450kWh (a 14th century 4-bedroomed farmhouse with 16 solar panels on an outbuilding).0
