  • Dave,
I'm assuming that you are aware that the way the PS Deal works is that you build up a credit balance so that you are always in credit.

This is different to the way that the normal fixed monthly direct debit works with other suppliers schemes.

I'm currently 18 weeks in credit, which for my 10,000 kWh pa is £316.
Unlike Tafrock, who has a low consumption of 3037 kWh pa.

Perhaps I should ignore the low discount offers and lest my credit run down until the discounts increase...

BTW we all get the same discount on each Powerpack and the same number of days use.
Quoting £'s can be misleading as the cost depends upon your annual kWh consumption. Easier to quote days.

    Also:
    - The daily standing charge is discounted
    - The "value" and "cost" of packs that are available before your monthly review may be different after your review, depending upon your consumption for the month. The discount and number of days for each powerpack will remain the same though!
  • I also read mine daily.

I have a "dumb" meter and an OWL monitor that sits on my desktop so I can get my reading without having to physically access the meter.

My spreadsheet converts the OWL kWh reading to give me my actual meter reading.

Every week I synchronise the spreadsheet to the actual meter reading.

The OWL monitors can be bought on ebygumbay for a few quid and are worth it as they give you a real time (10 second delay) reading of your current consumption.
  • Final point - Your monthly review will show you the recalculated estimate of your annual consumption based upon your consumption for the completed month.

Be sure to submit a meter reading on the day before your review date to ensure that the figures are accurate.

    Enough!

This comment above is very important and valuable advice.

I always read my meter at midnight on the day before an account review date and submit the readings shortly after midnight letting the system know they were taken at midnight.

I'm currently 23 weeks in credit. (£163). My discount off standard variable rate over 10 months is running at an average of 23.5%. Happy with that myself.

    Hey Mick, thanks for that.

I actually have Eon Energyfit monitor which I've never taken out of the box!! A quick read of the instructions leads me to believe it can do the same job as an OWL monitor? I guess if I put the opening reads into a spreadsheet and then each day add on the usage from the device it would give me my daily readings? Am I missing something?

As I live in a flat it would be good not to have to go downstairs to read the meter! :rotfl:

    Hi PennineAcute

How accurate are the energyfit calculated readings when compared to the actual meter?

Ah, looking into this further I can't see that it will work. It doesn't appear to split the kwh usage between night and day. I'll try it and see what happens.
  • Dave,

It should work providing that it is within the range of your meter and the wi-fi "Dongle" you attach to the meter "tails".

I just checked the OWL vs actual Meter and the OWL is reading+2.5% (10 kWh in 450 kWh) over a period of 20 days.
