Thanks everyone. Little was done Thursday or Friday but handyman returned and finished all jobs including one that I hadn’t realised needed done. He cost £50 more than anticipated but I do think my house now has kerb appeal. It is a handsome red brick 1906 house but the gates were a disgrace with the window sills and garage door not far behind. It’s now all clean and shiny.Inspired by this, I yesterday planted up some plants that have been patiently waiting near the front door along with a few bedding plants that I had left in a tray on top of a bed at the side of the house. This allowed me to see that there is sufficient light for them to prosper. So a bedding tray leaving and two pots added to the stash dd uses to plant regularly occurring babies from her Chinese money plant. On Friday I finally got a piece of work gone that has been hanging over me since June. I just decided that I wasn’t prepared to have it intrude on another weekend. I was also approached by a client to take on an additional project which is good. Yesterday we transported some stuff to the recycling centre thereby freeing up garage space. One item was moved there from the man cave and another has been moved downstairs to free up space to sort the contents of the roofspace. All the suitcases have come down and have been sorted into 3 piles a La Stacey soloman-keep, dump and donate. Today we will do the dump and donate. The Christmas decorations also came down and are in a bedroom as these are sorted every year before being put away. We also brought a set of shelves in from the garage to go in the donate pile. We rescued a rug from storage in the garage and aired this on the clothes line with a view to steam cleaning today. We will then rearrange the contents of 2 downstairs rooms to free up space for the retained roofspace contents in prep for the work getting done, hopefully this side of Christmas.
on other news, while sugar consumption remains, there has been no secret shopping nor any secret snacking. Happily mr wii rewarded me with a slightly less than 1 pound weightloss that got me back into the elevens.Today needs to get underway as we are out tonight to see jay rayner. Fingers crossed it will be good.Today I am grateful for

Enjoy your evening."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Went to the show last night. While the format of the first half didn’t appeal to me, dh liked it and it was all round entertainment. We stopped off to grab burgers on way home at a drive through.
i managed to dispose of the dump pile and also a number of cardboard boxes but didn’t do chazza run as there are two items to be considered by dd who was absent for most of yesterday. This also meant nothing more came from the roof space.
on other news, we have been planning a break to the us at end of November as, due to credit card points, we can get 2 business class returns for the cost of taxes. Yesterday we identified an option due to changing initial thoughts by one day that saved more than £1000 in taxes and allows us to fly in and out of Dublin rather than via Heathrow which would be two flights each way with time at airports. We also get access to the business lounge.
DH has been looking at accommodations using accrued hotel points. In one place, it looks like we can get room only for £60 plus points for 2 nights. The other we are hoping for £300 plus points for 4 nights. We are also pricing airport parking and may get an airport hotel for the night before for not too much extra.
but for now, work beckons. Today I am grateful for
points that make reductions

Sorry I missed the request for good vibes……probably a bit late but they’re heading your way.
I I’m not surprised you feeling a bit wobbly. It’s a big thing to admit things to yourself but even bigger getting it out in the open to others. Well done. Be kind to yourself and speak to yourself with the kindness you would give to others. Now you’ve got it out there it’s half the battle 👏👏👏January spends - £587.584 -
Thanks milann. Really appreciate the support. So yesterday dh was dropped into and picked up from work, 2 runs to recycling place and one to the charity shop. Another batch from the roofspace was sorted last night so more recycling runs will be made plus more charity stuff has been identified. I must admit that little work is being done as we only have a few days’ input for dd before she once again heads off on her travels. She won’t return until very close to Christmas. The most annoying aspect of all this is waiting for people who may want things to get back to me.
today I need to go to the chemist, conveniently located near chazza and recycling centre so things will definitely be leaving the house. I may also help out with a relative’s school run.Today I am grateful for

The feature bucket has gone! The plumber found by the builder swung by on Saturday but couldn’t complete the repair. It was three o’clock on Sunday before he returned by which point I’d written him off but here he was and all done and dusted an hour later. There are holes in the ceiling but these will be addressed when the builder comes on site.On other news, dd is off on her travels. I dropped her to Dublin airport at 3 on Sunday morning and got a middle of the night email last night saying she had reached her hotel. Just ten weeks of worry left.Financially, last week was a write off as comings and goings along with dh feeling under the weather resulted in takeaways. Yesterday we were both shattered from our 200 mile return airport trip and continuing sorting of roofspace contents so after a run to the recycling centre, I went to the sparks shop and bought what we each consider to he comfort food. I’ll have the other half of the Cumberland pie tonight while dh will eat a lamb dish. Then it’s back to porridge from now until we go on holiday. Structure around meals is needed as much to clear freezer space as to help with healthier eating.
today i have lots of work to do before getting covid and flu jabs this afternoon, so need to get started.
today I am grateful for
dd’s safe travel
a good night’s sleep

Goodness, that's some mileage for 3 in the morning! I think you earned your comfort food. I hope your DH is feeling better.
It's good your daughter has emailed to set your mind at rest. I agree though, it's worrying when they are far away, though the ten weeks will be past before you know it. Perhaps set yourself a goal to achieve before her return? I found that helped give me something to do when my DD was travelling.
I hope your jabs go well: mine are booked and I'm nagging DH to do his (I'm only eligible because he's vulnerable, and he insists on working from the office so he's getting more exposure than I am).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
