Yesterday I ventured to a shop before going home from the client. I bought the bread, frozen pizzas that had previously sold out, cheese, hp and Worcester sauces and a drink for a colleague, that I had gone in for. 4 others sighted in shop and no one in front of me in the queue. I considered buying butter but it was too dear.Yesterday I made a decision to refuse a leave request from a staff member as without her, we cannot safely operate a shift. She may decide not to show up. If this happens, I’m not sure what we will do.Went home and had calls with my mum and each of the offspring. Got truly appropriate and hilarious cards from each child. I also did 5 mins tidying in the garden that was more about being outside than anything. Fingers crossed that bin collections remain in place.
need to get to a client early then into that client. I am trying to give myself fri to sun off next week but it’s a bit wait and see. I’m also wondering about the 13 week isolation thing for those classed as vulnerable and am wondering if it will apply to me. While I will take the odd risk, I won’t ignore a direction.Today I am grateful for

I hope you get the letter telling you to isolate as the decision will be taken from you. You really need to take care of yourself with your health. If you catch the virus work will have to manage without you.
i felt guilty when work had a meeting asking if anyone had a condition from a long list. I very nearly said I’d carry on...I’ve not had any symptoms but the problem I have has showed up in tests and I subsequently need a flu jab and it was the deciding factor in having a local rather than a general anaesthetic when I had the last op. We had the afternoon to decide what we’d do......so I asked myself what I’d tell my dh to do if it was reversed - I got my answer and I’ve stayed off - available to work from home.
It is a very strange thought not knowing when we’ll see our family again. So sad 😢January spends - £587.5813 -
Thanks everyone. I estimate that we are one to two staff away from possibly permanent closure. I don’t want to be the one who tips the apple cart. The majority of residents are being good but there are a few who seem to believe that I have grounded them and are behaving like sulky teenagers. Given that a lot remain in denial about their addictions, they won’t seek medical help to deal with withdrawal. It’s difficult. I also had a staff member suggest that we should just close and pay everyone 80% of salary to sit at home. Can’t believe that so little empathy exists in the sector. That idea was discounted as I explained that if we close, we may not reopen so staff would be paid off rather than furloughed.Because of the same staff member, I cannot get my 3 days in a row off as I’m needed for a few hours on Saturday. In the client I have decided to not bank cash for now. I’m a great believer in having cash available during any kind of a crisis. We have multiple safes so we should be ok.On Monday evening we received donated food from cafes etc that are shutting up shop. I decided that any that could not be used for out service users should be made available to staff. DH will benefit from spicy stir fries with lots of fresh veg and some fresh ginger. The furry one has donated cooked chicken and another staff member’s guinea pigs will eat well on pak Choi, spinach and rocket.I managed to do a wee job that was requested by a client. I have used this to send out an email to various people by way of keeping profile. I’m trying to see a point where we get through this. Right, I need to get going.

I reckon my mental health is at greater risk than my physical health. I am struggling to go in each day and then struggling to get through the day trying not to show staff just how scared I am. I know that I am dealing with people with addiction but I am fed up being shouted at, lied to and with having to make decisions that cause me to lose sleep. I have a very small team who are going over and above what is reasonable and I will never forgive myself if any of them get sick. They are quite literally putting their and their families health on the line for people who appear not to care about anyone but themselves. I’m tired and scared and am tired of being tired and scared while pretending things are ok.
Yesterday we received a £500 cash donation from a man who is terminally ill who wants his money to do some good. That nearly finished me off completely.
whinge over, need to pull up those big girl pants and get a move on.
