My big financial challenge to mortgage freedom

The bargains didn't seem as bargainous as I would have liked so I managed to restrain myself and only got a couple of bits.
I really need to get back into the swing of getting some stuff sold so that I can build up my emergency fund and make extra payments towards the mortgage.
It has taken so long to sort out homes for stuff since moving..longer than I anticipated to be honest. We are getting there though and the dining room no longer looks like a dumping ground.
I've set up a special bills account, I just need to port all the direct debits to that account now.
It's really starting to feel like home, now we have furniture and we have put our stamp on it.( no we haven't stamped the furniture. Or stamped on the furniture)
Feeling encouraged by try harder, I have an item I am going to sell to start my millionaire challenge. I'm starting small but thinking big.
I will be setting some targets for July.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Hi, was just wondering where you had got to ???
Reckoned you would be working your socks off, it's mighty hard work, moving and starting afresh, but can only be good in the long run and well worth it all
Nice to read you managed to restrain yourself with the bargains, they are only bargains if you really need the itemI have managed to save a lot this way, and now in the habit of passing by things that I would have normally just picked up because "I like it" not because "I need it"

Lovely to see you again tattycath! Glad the house is getting sorted.
I'm curious about the millionaire challenge too"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Targets for July.
Keep a spending diary so I can keep track of where the money goes.
Grocery spends should not exceed £150 this month, including cleaning materials, pet food etc
Make £200 getting rid of stuff I no longer need/want, surveys, cash back etc
Sort out and organise work and craft stuff.
Start to focus more on my business.
Overpay mortgage, aiming for £200 this month.
Savings, continue to grow emergency fund £67.00/£2000GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Welcome back .Glad to hear you are going to try the millionaire challenge i have come to a standstill at the moment but do have a few items still listed and it only takes one to sell then i can buy something else i have my eye on a few things .
Good idea on the spending diary i use one for everything and find it really helps.
Glad to hear alls going well and that your new house is really starting to feel like home .0 -
Hi tattycath. I keep track of spending using the DailyExpenses (free!) smartphone app which I find really helpful. It lets you stick income/expenses into categories. OH just sends me a message when there's an expense I wasn't around for so we can keep track of joint finances.
Or we used to have a notebook/pen on the kitchen table which is great if everyone remembers to fill it in.
Good luck with your targets!0 -
I managed a no spend day yesterday.
Today we did a food shop, so I have spent over half of my budget for the month.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Been to see a poorly friend today.
I bought some eggs instead of buying a cake, I made my own. Much cheaper.
Today I have spent £4.58 in total (apart from mortgage overpayment).
The spends were on groceries.
The money used was in the form of a couple of old scratch cards I found in the bottom of my bag-£5 win on one and £1 win on the other.win-win!
