While two recent Court judgements indicate the Govmt is in a right mess and has been acting illegally.
First a judicial review ruled that a further reduction in the Civil Service redundancy terms imposed last year was illegal because, although the law was changed from requiring Union consent to just consulting the Union to enable the last slashing of terms, the Government failed even to consult the PCS as they excluded them from talks unless they agreed to terms before the talks started.
The Government apparently defended their actions by saying including the PCS in consultation wouldn’t have made any difference to the outcome. The Judge thought that would not therefore have been much of a “consultation”.
A clear indication of how the Government defines “consultation”.:rotfl:
The other recent ruling was the ruling illegal of the disgraceful tribunal fees imposed to deter people contesting unfair dismissal or treatment. There is talk of the refund of fees that WERE paid, but my concern is the access to justice of all those who were deterred from the courts by the fees – no justice for them, sadly.
Both of these defeats are obvious imposition of justice upon imposed injustice – but they are so clear cut one can only assume the Government’s legal advisers were either rubbish or their advice was ignored. Probably the latter.
If it was the latter, then the Government were effectively breaking the law knowingly.:mad:0 -
How do people feel about the Tories U-Turning on free university tuition and free school breakfasts that were in the press yersterday?
No big deal?0 -
I think you overestimate how much people care what you think about things;)
No-one except hardcore right-wingers desperate to find something to smear Corbyn with believes he made any commitment to write off student debt. His comments (which since they were in the NME were not widely read) are perfectly clear.
This is just a Tory PR team talking point, an attempt to “gotcha” Jeremy Corbyn as a substitute for having a policy discussion. The fact the Tories new BBC PR guru Robbie Gibb is reduced to sour grapes moaning such as this provides me with a great deal of re-assurance -parties that need to do this sort of thing in lieu of making political arguments are ideologically bankrupt.
Ha.
Like we need more ideology. If any one party had the 'right ideological approach' to fixing things like the NHS and education, then why haven't they done it sooner?
Maybe they are just winging it.0 -

Given the humiliating defeat that Mrs May received in the election. Pretty obvious that people don't consider these issues to be a priority. Also the manifesto was drawn up by the kicked out Chief of Staff. Not representative of the party view perhaps. I for one don't see why school breakfasts should be free to all. Assistance should be given to those that genuinely require it.0 -
"There are directives and obligations linked to the single market which we would not want to see as part of a post-Brexit relationship,” said Corbyn in September 2016.
DIane Abbot was asked: “Are you sure that Jeremy Corbyn voted to remain?”
Ms Abbott replied: “Absolutely sure. That is an absurd question. It's almost trying to undermine all the hard work that all of us did to get the right result.”
The man who will seemingly say anything for a vote when it suits.
The woman who can say anything whenever.
Perfect future UK government material or comedy duo?I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0 -

I have a suspicion there won't be 5 pages on it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes & all you Labour supporters were so in favour of free school breakfasts too. Oh hang on......

Tory plans for free breakfasts for all primary school pupils in England would amount to "a thimble of Rice Krispies", Jeremy Corbyn has said.

If her agenda is 'unspoken' that is undemocratic. She should be accountable and straight with the British people. She hasn't been and that is the very reason she is losing support from being 24 points ahead before the election to the present
position!0
