One would assume he meant he would remove the problem.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0

Yup, and what does "deal with it" mean?
What has happened here is that Corbyn has tried to be clever & it has spectacularly backfired.
He deliberately used that expression, precisely because he thought it was both unambiguous enough that those with student debt would interpret it as wipe out the debt, and also just vague enough that he could wriggle out of it later.
On the former point he was correct. Ex-students were indeed gullible enough to believe he'd wipe out their debt.
On the latter point he has come resoundingly unstuck. Every attempt to weasel out of what was interpreted as a clear promise merely demonstrates to the student masses that he's exactly the same as virtually every other MP; just another rich old man lying to them to try to get their votes.
In his case this is particularly damaging since his only "appeal" is trying to paint himself as something different.
Oh dear Jeremy Corbyn.0 -
Were many ex-students taken in by a single wording in an interview, compared to the hours of air time where he made it clear he wasn't promising to wipe the debt?0

Nice try, but the hours of airtime where he's attempting to pretend he wasn't promising to wipe the debt, have come AFTER the election.
BEFORE the election all we had were comments from him saying he'd "deal with it" backed up by Tweets from his shadow cabinet.
So yes, lots & lots of foolish students were taken in. And now they're all pretty angry.

Hm, I wonder if this is clear enough for the Cobynistas. Corbyn's shadow justice minister saying:
“every existing student will have all their debt wiped off. That’s fantastic news, isn’t it guys?”
Bang to rights.

I'll continue to highlight Corbyn's lies as long as he's in charge of Labour, whether the next election against him is tomorrow or never.
I understand this is inconvenient for you. Sorry old chap.
Don't bank on a Remain-favouring Labour Govt anytime soon :j0 -

I saw plenty of mention of him making it clear they weren't going to wipe out existing debts before the election.Hm, I wonder if this is clear enough for the Cobynistas. Corbyn's shadow justice minister saying:

Can't watch the video but that's pretty bad for the shadow minister if true. Of course, we hold May bang to rights for everything her staff say that's nonsense, don't we?0 -
It's astonishing how easy it is to lead Corbyn into a mess of his own making. He lost the election. What's the point of admitting that if he'd won the election he'd have reneged on his party's promise when they didn't win it? There is no reason he couldn't carry on saying "when we win the next election we'll 'deal with' student debt".0
