To all the people who say Theresa May should step down: who do you think should replace her?

However I imagine the PLP are a lot happier than the Tories today :rotfl:

Haha the PLP? They're the most gutted of all! Not only are they out of power for another 5 years but Corbyn gets to stay in charge. The worst of all possible worlds for them!

    There were 3 scenarios:

    1. Labour won.
    2. Labour lost & Corbyn was replaced
    3. Labour lost & Corbyn stayed on

The PLP held a vote of no confidence in Corbyn & it was carried massively. They are gutted beyond belief today haha.

Compared to them YOU'RE happy

All pretence of being able to debate gone. Reduced to nothing but insults now.

I guess that's why the left loses so miserably again & again. When it comes to it they have nothing to say & just show their true colours :rotfl:

Never mind old chap, in just 5 short years you may get to lose again :)

I didn't lose, My candidate won, not only that but the Con's have been weakened and Labour's strength has increased.

Are you sure you're not the actual pigeon I referred to earlier, it would explain why I was querying whether English is your 1st language. If you are in fact a pigeon I apologise. :money:

And they're still happier than the Tories! :rotfl:

TBH common sense alone would would have sufficed, but it seemed to be lacking. I was amazed at just how bad the Tory campaign was, they should have also been aware that, despite all JC's failings, campaigning isn't one of them, so probably not an ideal opponent to face in a snap election called on what looks like a totally impulsive decision. May might return, but for me, her limitations have been exposed, time to look elsewhere (but not Boris please).

I think its a case of when Theresa May leaves now rather than if she does, Brexit negotiations obviously complicate things, but unless she is going to cede a lot of power to cabinet on Brexit I think she may as well go now, even if it does delay things somewhat, what is the point on her starting the UK down a particular path on Brexit which her successor may not agree with.

Agree that there aren't many hugely impressive options for the Tories as replacement for her though, also have no wish to see Boris get the job!

Ruth Davidson would be an interesting choice if she was an MP, but I suspect she would struggle to get voted in by the membership anyway.

hallmark is no doubt happy that brexit is fooked

i will be disgusted if brexit is now watered down and the customs union stays along with or without the single market.

I think most of the PLP will fall in line pretty easily now, Corbyn could have done a lot worse than this and held on anyway, with this he comes out with his authority enhanced.

For Labour this needed to happen anyway, if Corbyn is now seen to get a fair crack of the whip from the PLP and fails in the next election anyway (which will be a lot sooner than 5 years I suspect), then equally the members are likely to be more open to the idea of replacing him, Labour has got caught into this unhealthy mindset of Corbyn + members v PLP for too long now, if its handled right then this should end that.
