That is a very good point.
    They should concentrate on
    20,000 LESS Policeman
Lack of SUFFICIENT funding for the NHS
Lack of SUFFICIENT funding for Schools
Lack of SUFFICIENT funding of Prisons and Staff in Prisons
The GROWTH in the number of people using food banks
The GROWTH in the number of people homeless.

And most important the Tories actually think everything is OK.

In the debate last night Amber Rudd said she had been to visit a food bank. Did anyone think that was true? It might be but does she sound like someone who had done so.
I agree plenty of things to criticise Torys over, so why make such an silly comment.

The problem is her tactics don't seem to be working and the gap between Labour and the Torys has narrowed considerably since the campaign started, which I would have never have thought posible.

I agree, the Tories have so run perhaps the worst campaign humanly possible. I'm not arguing that it was horrible tactics (or at least they allowed themselves to be totally outmanoeuvred to a point where any tactics would backfire). I'm arguing that Corbyn etc is full of sh*t pretending his appearance last night had anything to do with believing that the public were entitled to see the prospective PMs debate. If he believed that then he should have been at the first debate whether or not May was, and he should have always been intending to attend the second debate too, not make a snap decision to attend on the day because that's what his strategists told him to do.

(And likewise I was making the point that his supporters on here are equally full of it if they try to pretend this was anything other than strategizing).

Anyway, I thought it was fraud to send your own CV but sent someone else for the interview. Obviously not.....

Can you please explain what you mean by that because she was never due to appear on the show since it was announced weeks ago. Corbyn was not going to appear either until he changed his mind on the day.

Are you trying to mislead people or is it you who is being mislead?

I didn't watch the debate last night; I saw some superb improv comedy in the West End. Perhaps I should have saved my cash and just watched the free comic spectacle played out by our politicians on a daily basis?

Just looked up my options standing locally (only had a UKIP flyer so far). All the usual suspects plus some bonkers Christian party. What a choice.

    It might be on catchup.

Haha it's depressing enough just reading about it.

Rudd seems to have coped OK but she's average at best IMO. It would have been far more interesting if the Tories had put up Dan Hannan or Jacob Rees-Mogg (both far better choices since both are heavily pro-Brexit & would have had the skill to steer the debate back to that topic at every opportunity).

Unfortunately I've seen May make zero use of either this campaign, along with Boris Johnson or David Cameron. All 4 would be powerful assets IMO, but for whatever reasons they are nowhere to be seen.

These TV debate are a waste of space for right of centre politicians because of inbuilt audience applause bias. In future I hope Tories and UKIP ignore them.

Disgusting tbh. No wonder TM didn't turn up.

I fear there is a stitch up going on to make sure "the people" don't get Brexit...

Will you re-brand back to being a Remainer when that happens? :D
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Indeed, and Corbyn played the strategy perfectly.
You have to question why TM did not consider this strategy and countered accordingly.
Not a good sign that she can adopt a good strategy in the upcoming Brexit negotiations.
I can only assume she thought she would do more damage to her and the Conservative by appearing than not appearing.

I imagine most people here are familiar with him, but if not, a taste of Dan Hannan giving the kind of speech virtually every other MP of any party can only dream about (this was before the EU referendum):

I think that Corbyn took part as he has realised that if he can get in front of voters he can attempt to dispel the "myth" built around him by the media.
This has been mentioned elsewhere. I did not see either May or Corbyn on the One Show but afterwards there were lots of favourable comments about Corbyn and his style.
Any good from Mrs May appearance on the same show seems to have trickled away together with her lead.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.
