I had no problem with Theresa May's original proposal. There are three options;
(a) the state provides care for those who don't have the means;
(b) everyone is entitled to care, and it's paid for out of general taxation.
(c) everyone is entitled to everything, and it's paid for by borrowing more and more money, or some magic calculations from Diane Abbott's abacus.
I'm happy with (a) or (b). Nobody was being made homeless. Children shouldn't expect to inherit their parents' wealth."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

Can't win really in the eyes of some; was it ever thus.
We would all like to get everything right first time around. Sadly, life ain't like that. Is or was yours? You never made mistakes? (A generalised "you" btw not specifically the OP.)
There have been a number of cases where the May government have 'listened' and made changes to what they initially thought was a good idea.
It's a worry that they keep thinking bad ideas are good ideas and they only back their policies if there aren't squeals of displeasure.0 -

Yes that would be a winner among morons who can't do very basic sums.
Everybody who can do sums understands that under Corbyn the country would be bankrupt within a year & there would be much less money to spend on the NHS or the police.0 -
I get the impression that many of the old big hitters are taking a back seat, his choice was limited.
Can't say I blame them!0 -

And the winner of the most miserable poster of the year 2017, for the fifteen year running goes to...0 -
Corbyn has to wheel out the same five spokespeople each time and regrettably one of those is Diane Abbott. Labour are fighting this election with their feet and hands tied behind their back. Shows how utter crap the tories are. They have all that cash and the press barons behind them and they are still cocking it up but she is going to take on the EU in a few weeks....can't wait!0

How does that differ to what the Tories are doing to the NHS and police?
Easy question. It would be about a thousand times worse.
Something a lot of people (obviously including you) don't seem to get at all. You seem to believe in a world where the nice Mr Corbyn promises everything without the faintest way of paying for any of it.0 -

I really can't see how he could acquire the space and time to carry out his ambitious plans.
These plans would easily be labelled as risky and ambitious in normal times, but against a backdrop of Brexit and Trump and rising Middle East tensions they look poorly timed as well.0
