Well, you actually just did make all of that up, so apparently it's possible.
If you're incapable of making a sensible argument probably better you say nothing at all.
If we introduced 4 new bank holidays we'd reduce the working year by 4 mandays i.e. approx 2%. Employers across Britain would need to take on 2% extra staff to cope with this. Meaning an employer the size of the NHS would need to pay an extra 2,800 staff.
This is basic maths & simple unarguable fact. Which part of it are you struggling to follow?0 -

I was under the impression that it was going to be made up for by all these efficiencies (rather than lack of training because the Tories took the bursaries away) that's forcing all these NHS staff to work weekends.
So to spend more can cost less in the long run, not that any Conservative has any ability to think more than 5 minutes ahead unless it makes them or their mates money💙💛 💔0 -

The simple unarguable fact is that most people haven't had a pay rise for a decade, we have the lowest corporation tax in Europe, the lowest bank holidays, one of the worst health services, we now have the highest HE tuition fees in the world, £2 trillion of debt, more of which has been dumped on us by the Tories in a few years than Labour in 3 entire terms.
We don't have enough police, enough doctors, enough houses, decent jobs, and the trains don't run.
Over the course of the Tory administration the top 1000 earners have had £86 billion added to their net worth, while nurses have taken a 14% real terms pay cut and are now forced into food banks.
The Tories solution to this is to sell off the NHS, slash another 5% from corporation tax and tell people to take their medicine, while they make the UK, a three trillion dollar economy, debt laden, asset stripped and bankrupt.
And you are complaining about a few extra bank holidays in a country where people are so burnt out they already have one of the lowest levels of productivity in the G7.0 -

You have zero understanding of economics, or history of why we are where we are.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

So you prefer to just ignore the simple question & issue a rant instead? Stuff like what I'm posting, ie how would all this fantasy stuff be PAID FOR is the reason most people don't trust Labour. If you want them to start trusting Labour, either make a coherent argument or stop backing stupid uncosted policies.
I can guarantee you that rants like yours above don't persuade a single wavering voter, they just turn them off. You get a few thanks from people who already think the same as you & everybody else just rolls their eyes.0 -
Feel free to explain why
I thought Arklights post was reasonable, the response is just "WHAAA WHAA".
Tiresome. Like politics generally. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Is this anti-Labour (who have a fleshed out costed policy that some people still insist isn't costed) or anti-Tory (who actually have an uncosted policy and refuse to give any details)?0 -

Rinoa sems to think that Arklights post didn't make any sense (I thought it was pretty reasonable too), so I'm just curious as to where I'm getting the economics wrong, or if it's just, as you sat, a "WHAA WHAA" response.0
