So sorry to hear this Lottebear. Hope you find something else soon0

Hello
All after a rather uneventful start to the week, post Easter weekend. I went back to work and a redundancy consultation, lasting for a week was announced, therefore it looking like I will be loosing my job next Wednesday this was totally unexpected.
It reminds me that we must all have our emergency fund, I have revisited my budgets, I will be paid as normal and given one months notice pay therefore I should be ok for 2 months if not slightly longer with budgeting cooking from scratch etc...
I have started applying for jobs, I am doing a training course on Monday to develop my skills in Excel and I have sought benefits advice. I haven't been sleeping well so I am feeling exhausted and shocked at the moment.
So sorry to hear that LottebearEspecially awful when it comes out of the blue. I've had it happen to me once where I was actually made redundant and the other when my job was put at risk but then was ok but still had to endure weeks of not knowing. No matter how hard you try to prepare for it it always makes you worry.
If it's any consolation, I am a true believer of if one door closes another one opens and now I'm in a much better paid job. Keep the faith and keep doing all the things your doing by completing those course and if anything give yourself a couple of weeks off to reinvigorate yourself before hitting the job market again. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do?
Wishing you lots of luck with the job hunting0 -
so sorry, Lottebear! at least you do have some emergency savings--so many do not.
i am trying to refrain from spending any unnecessary money--which isn't easy as amazon will happily take my money with the click of a button!0 -

Hi all
Bit of a late check in from me today. I've been on a big, long catch up with the bestie, which has been most of the day.
Lottebear - so sorry to hear about the redundancies. Everything crossed that something else turns up for you really soon.
Twins - hope you found the 50% off everything collected offer at pizza place. They've been using a man dressed as Spider-Man to advertise it in my town all week. Ultimately to get the kids on board trying to blackmail you into getting it.
So, today I had to do a bit of taxi duty for bestie as her car was in for MOT. Then all back to hers for a cuppa and a catch up, which is so good for my mental health. We had lunch out on a voucher offer and then a good slob on the sofa watching tv (Broadchurch).
Lunch so large I didn't need dinner - now just relaxing before bedtime. Not giving up

Morning
lottebear so sorry to hear of your work situation. Hoping something comes along really soon for you. If it's any consolation when I lost my job we were able to tighten our belts sufficiently that we were able to manage on one income for a while. If you have debts and are in a dmp you can reduce your payments. ys shopping has slashed our gc spends and a real blessing. I got into the mind set that I only used my car for job interviews, shopping or emergencies and spent practically nothing while I was out of work. Fingers crossed for you x
La E nice one of ninja budgeting skills
ziggy hope you're doing ok today and fingers crossed for your dh's op to come through soon x
So yesterday the work saga rumbled on. I duly got to work, read the policy & the template for the work and it was abundantly clear the senior managers hadn't even read it before palming it off on me! Tried to ring the managers in my chain and couldn't get through, spoke to a manager in a different department as I was panicking. Then spoke to one of the senior managers in my chain who said I just need to complete a small part and speak to the person in charge of the contract. Relief! At the end of the day I managed to speak to this woman who during the phone call was opening and reading it and then it became clear this was't appropriate for me to do I am not a senior manager and am not trained in analysis tools. She then sent an email to all concerned saying I shouldn't be doing this and in fact no one in the organisation is trained sufficiently in this to be able to complete this peace of work. Which made it abundantly clear not one of those seniors who sent it to me had read through it. Peed me off as it caused me a lot of anxiety and I think that's pretty poor management! Anyway despite the stress it's now dealt with!
woken up this morning to a grey and dreary day. Hope it clears up enough for me to go to the lottie at some point. Need to work out what I am going to use to make root collars for the brassicas - I am aiming to spend very little on the veg/lottie this year! No sign of 2nd courgette yet... At some point I need to pot on some tomatoes.
I'm going to write my 1st draft of my personal statement today
All meals from stores. Make a big batch of veggie chilli & freeze some
got leg of lamb out of the freezer as have friends coming for roast tomorrow and drinks in our new gardenwill need to get oh to help me tidy up the side area where everything had been plonked while it was being done.
oh & I were discussing a podcast he had listened to with a psychologist who had studied the use of apps and the effects they are having on the human race. Companies like fb, twitter, instagram etc hire drs in psychology to use all their knowledge and skills of manipulating human traits to get "more time on app" share. Ever feel like youa re using these apps too much? It's because of this, we are being manipulated into spending more and more time on them. This freaked me out and I have logged out of fb on the laptop & my phone!
