    Morning Saturday Savers,
Busy morning here. I've finished the woodstripping, have wire-woolled it & am about to start sanding. Mr f is undercoating entire room using leftover neutral shades of paint he found in the shed, so a saving there. Living room was long overdue decorating & a bit of maintenance & smartening up but our budget for doing the whole thing is £200. Paint & associated supplies (Wilko's) came in at £62. I am intending to steam our existing curtains. They are dry clean only but that is likely to cost more than they are worth. If steaming doesn't work, I will test a small corner for colour-fastness & consider washing them in the bath. I will probably buy fabric remnants for new cushions. The only big spend is for a mirror to go on the chimney breast. The only one I've seen that I like is £95 but I think I can still buy that & come in on budget.
    Other titchy things:
    *Check & water veggies
*Find robbing slug & dispatch it. It is eating our future food supplies.
*V cheap dinner - mr f is making his 'cheesy bean thing' & home made jacket wedges.
*Two painty baths from one lot of hot water.
Just been moaning that we didn't buy any snacks but have now found hot cross buns & a dozen home baked apricot muffins in the freezer so mr f now reassured he won't faint off the ladder from hunger.
    Bye,
    F x

DNMS - Re your brassica collars. The best ones I made were cut from recycled pond liner. We'd just made our wildlife pond & I cut the offcuts into squares for the collars. If anyone on your allotment or anyone you know has made or re-lined a pond lately (or knows someone who has), that's what you want as they will last you for years.

lottebear sorry to hear your news, it is a good job u have an emergency fund, that is something I desparately need to work on. Fingers crossed something will come up soon for you.

DNMS I'm glad the work saga got sorted. I thought it was very unfair that u were expected to do the report originally and the senior managers had not even read the remits

Still in my PJ s, have been doing paperwork all morning.
    Just about to get ready.
Need to reload the dishwasher when this load finished.
    Load of washing on
Taking my DD for her driving lesson later.
Spends in the cafe for tea and cake but I'm going to do some shopping after where they have a wider selection of vege food on offer (DD is a vegetarian). I've a coupon so have deliberately held off shopping until day.
Cat cleaning was done first thing
Do need to do some ironing later as DD has a sports event tomorrow.
B@@ts have some clearance items-basically some items from Christmas back at 50%, ordered a couple of items using my points to go in my stash for b'day and Christmas. Must admit I am better organised on the birthday front this year, just need to keep it going.
Have a good day everyone x

Late check-in for me today.... I haven't had a NSD in fact spent a fair bit today :(

FatVonD, crazy cat lady - I managed to get 40% off the pizza yesterday. There is this great website for all things (not just pizza codes) called latestdeals.co.uk and you can search for what ever item you're after and it comes back with where it might be on offer. With the voucher code all I did was enter my postcode and it gave me a list of money off codes :T

    Today I've:

    - Had my nails done. This is a bit of a luxury I know but it's one bit of luxury I really enjoy. I think though next time I'm going to remove my acrylics and just keep the shellac and that will cut down on the spend
    - Popped to Tesco with DH as he wanted his hair gel, face cream and deodorants... all of which were on offer luckily.
    - Came home and both of us went for a long walk around the park before going via the local shops where we picked up some chicken thighs from the butchers for tonight's dinner
    - We were going to pick up something quick to eat from outside but decided not to so came home and I make a Tuna sweetcorn sandwich on the griddle pan - yum!
    - Need to visit Swagbucks and complete some surveys
    - Need to look at what funds I've got left until pay day on Thurs

That's all for now! Have a good afternoon/evening everyone :)

    Good Afternoon All

Paid deposit to gardener (work starts Weds)
Booked car in for service & mot
DH's bus pass came in post

Stripped DS's bed and wash bedding
    Cancelled DH's old "orange" contract
Free tea and cakes for us both in JL

    Still to do:
Keep drooling over my latest amazing comp win (a kitchenaid)
DD to drop dogs off for us to dog sit
    Remake DS's bed
    Weed front yard
    Investigate recycling DS's old phone
    Bump sales posts
    Craft

I can't believe that I'm posting about being ill again but I am poorly for the second weekend in a row. I'm starting to suspect it's stress/diet related or a combination so I'm going to try and make a bit more of an effort food wise even though I can never be bothered and I really hate it.
Usual Saturday stuff done - been to ds football, done my tutoring, saw bestie. Now I'm home trying to force myself to go upstairs and clean the bathroom. Might as well do it before the football finishes and my telly starts.

OK....a little update on today's list:
I worked really hard at the paint stripping & finally got the 96 hideous layers on our bow-windowsill back to bare wood! Have sanded it & will wax & finish it once mr f has finished sploshing paint about. He's worked really hard. The leftover assorted neutral emulsion collection from the shed has undercoated the whole room & has meant it is unlikely we will need to go & buy an extra tin of the top-coat colour. He's also painted the ceiling & the coving and is now cooking dinner! He doesn't even have any beer in!! (ok, that bit's not going down quite so well.....)
So, as he was listening to a geeky podcast & I couldn't do anything else in there, I decided to get a load of extra jobs done:
*Put a load of laundry on timer for cheap overnight wash as it sounds like a good drying day out there tomorrow.
*Sowed more mustard & cress seeds on kitchen windowsill.
*Sowed watercress....my usual washing-up bowl method. This job dropped off my list the other day as it's been an odd week.
*Photographed, weighed & did postage calculations for 27 ebay items.
*Actually then went on to list 12 of them!!
*The slug who had been troughing himself with my veggie plants turned out to be a huge snail & his smaller friend. Both taken a very cheap flight down a prickly bit of no-man's land at the bottom of our garden, as I have quite a good throwing arm!
*Topped up wildlife pond - not money saving - but a very calming activity as the tadpoles seemed to enjoy their shower. Buried a frog :-(
OK, must pop down to the greenhouse now to cloche & cover all my tender veggie plants as it's apparently going to be a cold night.
Lottiebear - sorry to hear about your job. I'm guessing that the sector you work in is maybe not unionised, as a week is a very short timescale for redundancy consultation. I know there are procedures bosses need to follow for these, but I don't know how many of them are terms & conditions foought for & gained by the various sectors' trade unions. I hope it's not as bad as you fear, & if it is, that you are able to find something else quickly. You're in the right place here for money-saving ideas, at least. Good luck!

CCL - It's got to be worth a try. After all, you can't keep on & on doing the same thing & expect different results. If what you have been doing to date & what you are doing now, healthwise, has contributed to this situation of tiredness & regular poorliness, which you definitely don't enjoy, then it's got to be time to try something else.
I'm saying this not in judgement, but as someone who has experienced several of the same issues as you in the past, until something had to change. And that change had to start in my own head!

Lottiebear, be sure to sign on as soon as you possibly can, even if you are married/have a partner you will still be entitled to six months contributions based JSA and this should also trigger a tax rebate (though not sure how that works if it's just the start of a new tax year.)
