The Jun 18 fix is not on the comparison sites. The April 18 that was on the sites, at a cost within pennies of the Jun 18, has been dropped and replaced by May 18 at a massive premium. Just use the overall projection cost for the Jun 18 to compare with what the comparison sites come up with.0

They must have been reading today's papers. If a Conservative Govt is minded to cap SVTs to protect 70% of consumers from price rises, then it follows that we can expect the difference between SVTs and fixed tariffs to reduce - leading to higher prices for the 30% who have switched. No doubt, special advisers have said that it is better to please 70% of the population .........This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Hey all, so I have left it a bit late for switching my supplier. I found EON is a good one. Though went to make the switch today and read on the info this:
From 23rd-31st May, the industry-wide gas initiative, project Nexus, is being delivered. Therefore, any new gas contracts that are signed between 3rd May and 23rd May 2017 may be temporarily delayed.
So what does this mean exactly? If my current Tarrif finishes end of May does this mean if I switch to EON now there is a chance they might not make the switch in time and I will go on to EDFs automatic standard tarrif?
Should I just switch to EDF June 2018 for now then switch to EON if I don't have to pay any exit fees? Another spanner in the works0 -

Just carry on as normal
This is what Ofgem say on the matter
12. What is Ofgem’s view on enforcement of licence obligations directly impacted by major systems issues at go-live? How will Ofgem support supplier’s messaging to customers if there are serious impacts on the customer experience as a result of implementation?
With respect to Gas Suppliers’ compliance with their licence conditions, we consider that SLC 14A paragraph 3(e) may be applicable in these circumstances. In particular, Ofgem are satisfied that the unavailability of the central systems during the NED period, through which customer transfers are processed, is a circumstance outside the control of the relevant licensees.
Notwithstanding the above, Ofgem considers that the impact of the Non Effective period should be largely indiscernible to the majority, if not all consumers undertaking a switch. However, it would be prudent for suppliers and organisations such as comparison websites to brief those staff dealing with consumers to be briefed on the implications of the system cutover. For instance, where the consumer may request a specific effective date that would not be achievable, proactive briefing and communication may help manage expectations accordingly.
We will continue to monitor suppliers’ performance over this period and reserve the right to pursue further investigations against any supplier who fails to meet their targets to the extent that cannot be reasonably attributed to the NED period alone, or for not taking all reasonable steps to resolve issues, in line with the requirements for suppliers to do so as set out in SLC 14A (e).0 -

Hello icicat and sorry for the delay. Thought it might help to give you a bit of information about what's happening.
Project Nexus is the name given to an industry regulatory change aimed at improving the UK gas market. At the moment a third party, Xoserve, looks after the data sent between suppliers and gas transporters. These systems are being changed to handle more data traffic.
As part of these changes, Xoserve will be able to send Independent Gas Transporter (IGT) information via the same electronic messages used by other gas transporters.
Most of the UK gas is delivered by National Grid, Northern Gas Networks, Scotland Gas Networks, Southern Gas Networks or Wales and West Utilities. IGTs are smaller gas network operators who also deliver gas to properties. Including the IGTs in the new systems will remove the need to manually handle their information. This will speed up switches involving properties where the gas comes via an IGT.
The new system is on track to go live on 1 June 17.
The changeover involves the movement of large amounts of data. To do this, we're going through a transition stage from 23 May 17 to 31 May 17. During this time no industry updates will occur. This will lead to the delays with changes of supplier as advised in the message you saw when putting your switch through.
Your switch will go through okay but the gas will take longer. I can't speak for other suppliers but, if we were the losing supplier and you were on a fixed tariff with us, we'll protect your prices up to the to the supply end date. Provided, that is, you're in the Price Protection window (open 49 calendar days before a tariff ends until 20 working days after).
Sorry to use industry jargon icicat but hope it explains the message you saw. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

footyguy, Malc, thanks for the replies.
Malc, thanks for the informative reply, I tried my best to understand it. So if I made the switch to E.On now what can I expect to happen when my tariff with EDF runs out at the end of the month? I'm guessing my electricity will switch over fine but not sure what happens with Gas. Will there be some sort of delay with the gas switch to EON resulting in me being automatically put on EDFs standard tariff? cheers0 -
I switched from EDF to EON v9 on Friday. Marginal savings of £14 per annum over EDF blue fixed June 18, but with cashback of £38 with PowerUK comparison site on Quidco made it a viable change for me.
EDF tariff is slightly longer (13 months compared to 12), and doesn't have exit fees so not much in it either way.
From the EON representative description of project Nexus, I read, if the gas transfer is delayed you would remain on current tariff with EDF until completed, as long as completed within 20 days of the tariff end date i.e. 20 June,
This would mean up to 20 more days of cheaper gas.0 -
cheers btr30. Though not sure I understand about 'This would mean up to 20 more days of cheaper gas'? Wouldn't you be switched to edf standard tarrif whilst the switch to eon for gas is delayed?0
