Good morning all
feeling bittersweet today.
It was last Easter that my sister told me she had cancer.
I am attempting to clean LR, but DD is esconced on a sofa atm.
So, in between I am tackling the very long overdue paper and receipt mountain, much of which I CBA to deal with earlier when my sister was so ill and after she died. Even though I had lost family before I have never been so unable to function as I was when she was very ill and then died, anything I did get done required a massive effort, I know mum and middle sis were the same. I now entirely understand how A'n'W's mum came to develop dot-to-dot as a method to start to restore order.
And I always remember my Granddad on Good Friday because that's the day he died (though I don't know the date).
Anyway, having gone through that I hope I am a kinder and more tolerant person now, so a lesson learned.
I am much amused by all the herb and spice list production! Hope they're neatly formatted! (mine's on excel and includes form eg ground, whole etc. I might go and add use by dates and make you all do that too, next week!)

Enormous ((hugs)) Valli. I think you've been amazing. X
**creeps in, hanging head in shame**.... How did someone who uses quite a lot of herb and spices manage to squirrel away fenugreek dated 1994???! I can't even remember why I bought it, it was so long ago. Some other jars also turfed out. Fer....linggg! Thank you Valli for the suggestion, I bow to your superior organisation! Off to put it all on Excel with dates, so that I'm ahead of the game0 -
Worrying, FBO. I hope you both enjoy Easter even if the plans are rewritten and that the next three months go quickly.
(((Hugs))) Valli. Sorting out paperwork is a great way to get back into a rhythm you feel comfortable with. Lots of flinging because most of it doesn't really matter that much. Very satisfying.
One corner of the yard is scrubbed - walls, window, back door, everything. I emptied the waterbutt yesterday and that's had a scrub down inside and out for the first time since it was installed 15 or so years ago. Yuk. Serious flying.
I think I could cope with doing the herbs and spices The Flylady Way later ....Better is good enough.0 -

I hope plan D, E, or F goes ok.
All I've done today is collect the flowers from the florist and put some oasis in to soak. About to go round the garden to pick more foliage and any other flowers suitable for a windowsill assuming I have the time or the inclination after doing the lilies.
Didn't sleep well so got up and did a large part of the spreadsheet I need to apply for my uni contract at 2am. Thought if I was lying in bed worrying about getting it done on time I may as well get up and do it.
Shortly dropping in to church to see what other flower ladies have done already; sadly there aren't many of us now on the rota. Then on to the optician. Can't believe I'm going to an optician on Good Friday; goes against the grain but it was hard to get an appointment and they gave me some new contact lenses to trial last week which need to be checked.
Mr N hard at work with the pergola as timberyard delivered the right stuff this time.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -

Dizzy saunters in and smugly crosses off 'mint' from her hand-written, non-alphabetical herb and spice list and adds it to her shopping list, after using it in the slow cooker with a leg of lamb...but, wait! Excel spreadsheets!?! Use by dates!?! But my Kindle doesn't have Excel...WHY DOES MY KINDLE NOT HAVE EXCEL????0
-
Lol Dizzy I am so sorry. I use spreadsheets for lots of things at home, to 'keep my hand in' and this makes me the spreadsheet expert at work. I did go on Lotus 123 training back in the day (ie pre-windows).
I have just tidied out my bureau - it was my Great-Aunts, she was like a second grandmother to us, and I used to play 'offices' at it when I was a kid. Woman after my own heart, Valli. I did Lotus 123 and Supercalc. The early versions of Excel responded to all the Supercalc commands preceded by the Please button, ie / Very useful.Better is good enough.0

And I use colour coding to show when something needs to be used up soon.
The meal plan is also there.
So nyer, nyer, nyer. :rotfl:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I too am an excel geek, used to program customised excel apps for various departments until my job went all politics-ey.
My herbs and spices are not labelled - I like a surprise when I'm cooking :rotfl: actually don't keep loads these days and they're all in little glass jars I can see / smell what's what.
Just been online to order DD lunches for next week. They changed the menu. 3/4 days she would choose jacket potato. She's asked if she can take packed lunches instead, so we are going to trial it for a week and see if she remembers to bring the box home...
We've done zip today. Watched various films, bit of homework (both me and DS) bit of laundry (but it's wet) and just brought the furries in and sat them on children's laps. They need some hooman time, to keep them tame. And I'll let them wander round the conservatory to stretch their legs, since they can't really go on the lawn.
Loaded DW after dinner - oh I did the ironing at lunchtime too - go me, lol.
Think we ought to try get out tomorrow...Bossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0
