Low mpg from car? Is this normal?

Hello, as per my previous threads recently got a 2005 Honda Accord 2.4 petrol automatic. I am only getting around 45-50 miles for 10 litres of fuel and I use Shell V-Power. This is around 19-20mpg. I drive in town but I do drive gently. Is this normal?

Is it normal? Its normal for you and your driving style and your journeys.

Why are you running it on V-Power?

Why not? I thought it'll clean the injectors with a few tankful's over time

I wouldn't be surprised with such figures if you are in urban traffic.

Roughly 2 1/2 litre petrol auto in town giving 20-odd mpg.

    Yes, it's normal.

Are you labouring the engine? This is 100% the best way to ruin your mpg figures. A lot of people think that revving uses more fuel, but changing gear too soon is far worse.

Big engine and auto with town driving is going to give poor mpg even if driven gently.

Hardly that much petrol, 9 litres is two gallons, 10 = 2.222222 gallons, which for 47.5 miles gives you 21.375 mpg.

Considering, big engine, petrol (not diesel), automatic, and urban driving - no not unrealistic - IMHO.
