    A friend on DLA has just had the letter (late March) asking them to phone if they wish to claim PIP.

    The letter also states that everyone on DLA will be contacted before October 2017 (to either apply or state they no longer need to claim) as that is the finish date for DLA.

    They can't end DLA until everyone has been dealt with -so they are just guessing

    I think they meant that everyone on DLA would have been contacted by then.
    It did state that DLA would continue to be paid until the claim for PIP had been sorted (one way or another).

    The deadline for the completion of the transfer from DLA to PIP is extended to Oct 18, so it's inaccurate to say everyone will be contacted by Oct 17.

    Don't see the logic. If the date for completion is October 2018, then obviously everyone will have to be contacted well before that date.

    And anyway, it says here;

    By 30 September 2017
    All existing DLA claimants (aged 16 to 64 on 8 April 2013) will have been invited to claim PIP.

    That's an old press release. There's still 2 million to be assessed. No way will 2 million letters get sent out by Sept 17.

    The Second Independent Review of PIP, last updated 30 March 2017 states;

    All remaining DLA claims would then be selected for reassessment randomly between October 2015 and October 2017. At the time this process was known as ‘Managed Reassessment’ but is now known as ‘Full PIP Rollout’.... The schedule for completion of Full PIP Rollout case selection has also been extended to October 2018 to ensure there is sufficient capacity in the system and delays will not be experienced by claimants.

    Mind you, the report also notes that when the Welfare Reform Act 2012 was passed, "it was envisaged that, by the time of the Second Independent Review, the reassessment of DLA cases would be complete".

    Forecasts aren't always accurate predictors.:)
