DLA to PIP Dates

Options
I am in contact with several disabled people throughout the country who are all waiting (as I am) for the dreaded letter to drop through the letter box - but nobody has recently had one
I was wondering whether the government had given up the whole idea of PIP or was there some other reason for the apparent total lack of recent conversions ?
ie) Which century do they expect to finish the job ?

Given up? Certainly not I hope. For those who have had the conversion and lost all/most of their DLA it would be wrong to move the goalposts in that direction.

Of the three, including myself that I know who are over 65 and had DLA, the conversion is still going ahead down here in Kent. It started late last year.

    No.

There were, I believe something like 3.3 m DLA cases before PIP started in 2013.

The DWP states that "At the end of January 2017, 543,200 claims in payment were reassessment claims from DLA"

The 21st century I expect. After all, most of us, including DLA claimants, will be dead by the time we get to the 22nd.

According to that link - the total caseload is 2.55 million registrations with only 1.2million in payment (converted from DLA since 2013) - With an additional number of new claimants

The 21st century I expect. After all, most of us, including DLA claimants, will be dead by the time we get to the 22nd.

By the end of January 2017, a total of 2,554,100 claims to PIP had been registered. Of these, 76,200 (3%) were under special rules for the terminally ill, and 920,100 (36%) were reassessed DLA claims

Of the 3.3m DLA claims, 920,100 had been reassessed for PIP as at the 31st January 2017.

What do they mean as "registered" ?
Do they "register" everyone currently claiming DLA and assume that 100% will be applying to transfer to PIP or what ?
Because, I for one - have not registered for anything myself..other than 10 years ago when I started on DLA ...

Not quite. Looking at the report,

the 2,554,100 is comprised of 920,100 DLA conversions and 1,634,000 new claims

of these 2,286,700 claims have been cleared, of which 754,600 were DLA

The 59,000 is the average clearance between June 2014 and January 2015. The DWP claim that clearances are "now averaging 81,200 per month".

I always was going to take a long time. As in a number of years. I expect it will take another 4 to 5 years to get to 100%.

No - 'registered' means that people have specifically made intial contact indicating that the wish to claim PIP, either as a fresh claim or because they are currently on DLA and have responded to a letter inviting them to claim PIP.

Right - so the number of people who are currently claiming DLA and may be transfered to PIP is going to be far higher ?
How many invites to transfer to PIP have not yet been sent out ?
ie) What are the TOTAL number of people who will be trying to claim PIP ?

According to the 2nd review of PIP by Paul Gray, the deadline to extend the deadlines to transfer DLA to PIP has been put back to October 2018.

Whether that happens remains to be seen.
