Been looking on the dwell website of all places.
What could happen, is I buy a TV unit and some shelving units etc.
If I did this , it would be instead of that nice £2k ruark stereo .

Was over in the flat today . James has done the worktops / sink and taps in the kitchen . He left me a couple of chunks left from the worktop, but tbh I don't think I've got room for it . He has to get a smaller shower door, which he is waiting for . He's coming back,on sat morning to tidy up.

Hi AC. Please don't buy the stereo. Get yourself moved in, get your debts paid off then see where you are. You've had new iPad and new iPhone in the last couple of months - did you also get the iMac? I'm really worried that you are displaying some bad habits that got you into debt in the first place. A stereo is not essential right now. You have TV etc in storage and music on your apple devices which can stream to a £100 Bluetooth speaker if need be. This is crazy spending. Justifying it by saying you've saved elsewhere ( by negotiating on debts, spending less on bathroom etc) is not really saving when you don't have a budget.

I really would plead with you to write to your creditors (better than let payplan do it) and try to negotiate and pay off the debts. I'm worried you are thinking you will get amazing full and finals and you might not. I do struggle with the idea of getting discounts on debts you've run up only to use that "saving" on some extravagant gadgets. Sorry if that causes offence, none intended but I personally struggle with it.

    Hi copperjar :)
You are one of the main voices of reason in my thread. Always.
Lesson learned is on holiday, butshe would be kicking me if sheread these last few posts regarding the stereo:) she's not the only one :)

Ive decided not to go for the stereo.. Final answer!
Ive been careful so far. Ive still got furniture in storage.
Unfortunately, i will have to buy wardrobes shelving and storage.
This flat has absolutely no storage and is a bargain for a reason.

Regarding my dmp : im playing the game with payplan.
I did contact the creditors direct back in january.
Some sent forms to fill in and wanted too much information.
I never realised that you dont have to fill in the forms.
Yes i do understand counter offers.
I will give payplan a chance as im due a phone call in first week of june . I owe approx£25,000. If i get away with £16-17k im doing great. I doubt if i have to pay back all, but if i did i still have it.
I do realise that the dmp must be cleared asap.
The stereo i wouldve got, would have been outrageous the more ithink about it. I was thinking about space and wire free stuff.
Ive more or less found a cheaper alternative .The shelving etc
    Never got the imac .
Thanks for sticking with the thread :)

Thanks for not taking offence AC! I can totally understand you wanting to buy lovely stuff for your swanky new flat but it's okay to do it over time. Bathroom and kitchen, carpets and decorating great to get done asap, the rest can wait a bit until you've moved in and see how the space works for you. You've got loads of music devices with amps, turntables etc - so cool! Bet it will all look amazing - but if you decide it's just too cluttered once you move in, I'm sure you could make a fair bit from selling that and upgrading to your swanky stereo. But just wait and see - no need rushing. Whatever you do don't keep both! :D

You're a great guy, don't get yourself in a position where you are forced into getting a job you don't like because you've run out of cash.

I am glad a few other voices have joined me in dissuading you against an expensive stereo at this time. This is not essential and the last thing you need is to find after reckoning up and sorting payplan that you do not have enough of a buffer to cover living expenses until you are working again. Also, be wary of Nationwide high pressure tactics. I know you have already tied up some money in a SIPP which long term is good but until you know where you stand income wise tying up any more would not be good. You need a budget as I and many others have said so you know how much you need monthly to cover essentials and then you will know how long your money will last until it runs out.

Thanks again folks. I'm now back down to earth, and promise to stay focused:)
True, i have to watch what nationwide say and do nothing unless it benefits me. I will be doing lists and budgets etc, in a couple of weeks.
I should be grown up by then :)

I am so glad to see that you've decided against the stereo.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

I also think you should write to your creditors separately AC to see if they will accept lower. I don't think payplan has power to accept full and finals.

good decision about the stereo AC, it was an extravagance that you can ill afford - a small TV unit and cheap bluetooth speaker will do the job!
