Hey AC. Don't want you to feel ganged up on but I echo the other concerns expressed in here over the past couple of days. It's great how proactive you are - I'm sometimes crippled by indecision - but you don't always need to go with the first thing/quote you see. You just requested a call back from carpet right and next thing you've paid a deposit on a £1700 refit without even seeing the carpet you are getting! Surely the price depends on the one you chose? Pretty sure you have a cooling off period - would it hurt to ring and cancel saying you need to consider things a bit more?

It's great that you like James but you haven't yet seen the finished job and you're giving him another! Sign it off first and check you like it. Please. You're a good guy and extremely trusting, I'd hate people to take advantage. Are you keeping a record of how much you've spent and what you have left? We have renovations budget and have gone badly over on the kitchen spend. Has meant a couple of things we wanted to do have had to be put on the back burner. And our budget for garden furniture has been reduced so much we've bought second hand from a Facebook sellers group. There are good deals to be had. Good luck :)

    Hello copperjar :)
Thanks for the kind words again :)
Crossed post . See above . I think I've explained the slightly rash decision . Telling carpetright ( who were very professional, and sympathetic )!, that a family member has died is not the nicest thing I had to do. Oh well, ive done it now:eek:

Having read LL's comment I have scrolled back on your purchases and noticed on another thread you bought a Dyson v6 animal. i have one of those but I have animals :rotfl::rotfl:

Again it you're getting nice new plush carpets and they aren't covered in dog hairs you could go for a much much cheaper brand/model. If you've not had it delivered look on other websites and ask yourself if you really need it.

PS - they are a !!!!!! to clean, especially the filters as I've discovered

I was laughing myself about the animal, I must admit :rotfl:
Still, it was a cheap dyson :)

This is why we were able to go for cheap carpets, no kids, no animals apart from one well trained cat and everyone removes their shoes.

For a flat with one occupant and no pets then a "light domestic use" carpet with a medium quality underlay for warmth and that luxury "spring" underfoot would be more than adequate.

Hoovers. Having tried several I now stick with a good old fashioned "Henry". They have great suction and are Indestructible......that's why builders use them.

We bought an extra "turbo head" which just glides along and makes hoovering much easier. Our Henry copes better with cat hairs than some of the special "pet" vacuum cleaners we tried.

Having said that now that I am getting old and decrepit I fancy a Roomba. Just switch it on and watch it go.

    My kind of housework. :rotfl:

Regarding lists, and budgets : end of may.
Why not now? In 3.weeks time , I have an appointment with natiinwide.
They want to help,me with my finances . That's when reality hits hardest.
No more spending etc. I haven't spent £25k in the 5+ months I've been in poole, so payplan is imminent etc.
I'm still unsettled heslthwise . I seem to be getting worse than better.
Then again, once I get to the gym regularity , and the specialist reduces my prednisolone (hopefully ) this could be my year. It hasn't been bad so far

I would reiterate what others have said AC. Can I suggest from now that anything you purchase, before you reach for credit/debit card you stop. Do some research online to make sure you are getting a good deal. Calculate how much you have spent, how much is still to pay (final storage payment, man and van to remove it to your new flat, payplan final payments, living expenses for next 6 months which is time it may take you to find new employment, balance of payments for all these things you have ordered). Most important think about whether what you are buying is a want or a need. Can it wait until payplan settled and you know what the final settlement is?

I do not agree with the nasty post about you benefiting house equity. We moved from London to Plymouth area and were able to buy a much nicer and bigger house because of the difference in prices between the areas. That involved some sacrifice as we moved 250 miles away from family and we certainly do not feel guilty about that and neither should you.

Agree with all that enthusiastic . Trouble is, everything I got is needed and at the best price. Surprisingly, so many don't realise I am always online looking for the best price etc and I did my homework thoroughly( carpetright excluded)

Hey AC, I'm pleased you've kept the full amount back (just on case) :)
It's great that you're getting on so well and I'm very pleased you seem to be settling into like in Poole....

Healthwise, as soon as you're up to it, gym and then that may well open social doors

Dating? any thoughts for down the line ;)

Dating ..mmm.. fat useless honeymonster wants someone for ballooning and saving money. Must not eat garlic. Maybe.
The gyms I used to go to didn't open up social doors, with your headphones on avoiding dodgy loud 'music':)
