Hoovers. Having tried several I now stick with a good old fashioned "Henry". They have great suction and are Indestructible......that's why builders use them.

We bought an extra "turbo head" which just glides along and makes hoovering much easier. Our Henry copes better with cat hairs than some of the special "pet" vacuum cleaners we tried.

    My kind of housework. :rotfl:

Having spent £300 on the same one AC has just purchased I still use my Hetty hoover for the stairs and carpets as the dog hair doesn't come out with Dyson - could happily have not purchased it as it only gets used for the kitchen/living room floors now that are not carpet

AC - just to prewarn, the Dyson will NOT hoover up big items (as in small pieces of paper etc) it's made for animal hair
  • Hi AC, if you haven't used the Dyson yet and are willing to exchange, I bought the Hoover Rush Pets vacuum cleaner and it is amazing! We don't have pets but this was on special offer when we bought it ;) It's £80 in Arg0s at the moment.
I've never used a Dyson so can't compare but my parents have a crazy expensive Miele vacuum cleaner and IMO our Hoover is just as good (and actually easier to empty).

Good luck with all the renovations, it sounds like you've found a gem in James! :)

    Thanks Georgina :)
There was me last Friday , looking at ideal world( must get out more ).
They had a cordless vac on there which looked good.
My landlady swears by dyson. One of my friends does too.
I honestly don't know my next move. I've worn myself out, plus all you lovely folk on here . I may stick with it . There's only me there, so whatever I get should be half decent .

Again AC, don't agree to James' mate supplying and fitting the carpets without 1) seeing the quality 2) choosing exactly what you want, not what they happen to have access to and 3) a written quote. Although it would be nice to get some befoe you move, it's not essential to the point of getting ripped off. Slow down!

The problem with vacuum cleaners is that the EU banned all high wattage and therefore powerful ones a few years ago. Climate change, lol.

Apparently they have to go down again this year.

We will back to brooms at this rate. :rotfl:

I'll be having another chat with James tomorrow/ Monday .
It will be cheaper than carpetright . It looks like mr. Carpet will see me on weds to measure up and discuss.
James has finished the bathroom . He has to get a smaller shower door and will have to come back at some stage to fit .
Will disclose the cost of bathroom when I get it .

Will disclose cost of kitchen , when that's done.
My main issue now is to put back the delivery from beales for as far as I can .
    Thanks

So I look for my fan ordered from qvc.
They use a courier company. DX. DX are worse than crap.
Just sent a polite email to QVC letting them know dx are worse than crap.
    It'll probably arrive when I'm out ,
Dpd for example send text to let you know the state of play.
    Dx... I'll leave it there

Definitely think you made the right decision with Carpet Right AC - what's a little white lie anyway?!

Make sure you have a few samples to look at and you don't necessarily need the most expensive. so are you pleased with the bathroom? Does it look good?

I have spent time looking through your previous thread this evening.
I have enjoyed reading your journey.
You sound so much happier and motivated now than you was in London.
I wish you all the best for the future .
