:oI think it's self service :o. I think it was Beales where I had tea with my daughter a couple of years ago.
Went there as a child with my mother and her mother and the waitress commented on how we three were obviously related/ looked similar.

Where do i start this morning ?
Usual roughness first thing . James was more or less gonna finish up
today , tomorrow at the latest. Howver, he can't make it as the childminder never turned up. No problem . He will finish over the weekend , monday at the latest .
I gave him a call , we went over a few things.offshoot being that, he will now be doing my sink / taps in the kitchen . He will also be doing the worktop. It makes sense imho, because time is of the essence and it will make things easier for me . Myself and james seem to have a good understanding. He really likes my choice of colours in the bathroom and
is very pleased with my laid back approach and understanding.

Receiving my new phone between 1&2 pm.
I'll have to track my order with qvc/dx regarding delivery of my fan.
May go to beales today/ may be tomorrow . :)

Waiting for carpetright to contact me for an appointment.

    All good stuff really

Thanks for taking one for the team AC :T. When you go, if it is a proper place with table service, can you please have one of those square sponges with chocolate squares stuck on the side with apricot jam, and cream on top. Washed down with a pot of Earl Grey. Thank you. You are most kind :D.

I'm still 5 years old , so sponge sounds great :rotfl:

Good to hear that you are pleased with James's work. So yes it makes good sense to get him to do the kitchen too.

If you find a good tradesperson, stay loyal, treat them well and they will look after you.

    Re tea shops.

Well today I have been soooo good.

Went for my massage and did not stop off for a coffee and breakfast and then go clothes shopping for new jeans as planned. Instead I just popped into the supermarket for a few bits.

The money I would have spent in the cafe covered some chicken for tonight's dinner plus bacon for 4 breakfasts, as well as milk.

    How's that for frugal living.

And the jeans.....well I need those like a hole in the head. I have enough clothes to open a shop.

Having said that I have bought 4 fab evening dresses this month. All from the bay of E, so I have spent peanuts. I am getting quite good at this auction malarkey. I'll have to be careful though, it's addictive, the thrill of the chase and then going in for the kill. :rotfl:

Bought some paint yesterday for my bedroom. I was being fussy about the exact shade. The assistant suggested Farrow and Ball at £48 per 2.5 litre. I smiled sweetly and said "regrettably that is a little beyond my price range". He winked and said " I'll mix you something to match".

Voila, £34.20 (with old biddy discount) for 5 litres.

    That's really cool LL. :)
    Mmmm, bacon .. I'll stop there .
Glad you are impressed with my style with sticking to james. We are very much alike in our approach :)

Will be having a cider with my friend on sat. He needs a kick tho', as there is a gig on around the corner from his house. I get the short notice . He promised next time etc. I'll let him off for now :)

Carpetright caught me slightly off guard with their phonecall .
I'm on the verge of getting a quote .
However, i don't know the size of the hallway . Not very big.
The man from carpetright quoted the carpet i was enquiring about.
However, i just pressed a button on their website. I asked them to reply with pic , or model no etc

I browsed their kitchen range, and found some vinyl flooring nice and lairy to suit. It's low stock, but i sent email telling the chap i want that anyway.

    It's low stock

Hopefully carpetright can take care of the flooring for me, within the next 2 weeks. Looks like next thursday i can start painting 2 remaining rooms and kitchen , hooing to have done by the following monday.

Phone arrived. I'll probably set it up tomorrow .

..and I've now arranged for carpetright to take care of everything .
There is a sale on . Hooray ! I have just paid a deposit .
Their surveyor is coming round tomorrow to discuss / show samples etc.
He'll be there 2.30-3.30 . James will be there, but it's only for a discussion .

So the quote : To carpet entire flat plus underlay dispose of old carpet rtc.
Plus vinyl flooring for kitchen : £ 1,700 approx. Price of a new bass guitar.
Tbh, it should still be in budget for what i was gonna spend on kitchen and bathroom alone .
I have stuff being delivered next week from beales . So, a slight headache emerges. I havevto paint one room on tuesday ( monday if im lucky).
Then i have to make sure the flat is as empty as possible for when carpetright come and do their business . I may be able to leave everything in the communal area by my front door. I have a feeling that will be ok.
    Fingers crossed .
    Getting there..i think :)

You're really motoring now AC. I was just thinking of you as I cleaned my louvre shutters. To say they were a bit dusty (cough. cough) is an understatement, but a quick whizz over with the brush nozzle on the vaccuum then a damp dust and they are like new. I only have carpet in the bedrooms but it is showing signs of wear and I do keep wondering about having them up and wooden flooring put down but there is just too much furniture to contemplate it at the moment. Perhaps if eldest does move out I could get furniture into one bedroom whilst the other was done and then swap over. I also regret staining my bedroom furniture a dark colour (mainly because I like the bedroom to be very dark). I keep pondering painting it cream as I know chalk paint covers quite well. I have just made a new quilt to update the bed a bit and may look at some curtains if I can find a good deal (or som material to make them). I've been in this house 7 years this month and still love living here even though having eldest move in was not on the cards then.
Re carpets, a friend of mine just had a new one laid which can be scrubbed with a weak bleach solution if it gets stained. She has a dog, plus a husband (not sure who comes first to be honest, or who is messiest) so feels it was worth the little bit extra for it.

Leaving anything of value, let alone brand new stuff, in a communal area is a really bad idea AC!

Much easier to go back to Beales asap and change the delivery date even if it costs you a few quid to do so.

    True harz :)
It was a thought initially. Its probably best to put what i can in a bedroom in flat. When i know carpetright are coming , i just move everything outside my front door .
Ill just plan ahead, and not panic :)
