I ordered a fan from QVC on bank holiday Monday .
No rush . I received email telling me it's coming via d x .
Again no problem . However, I had to phone them because the tracking system on dx is useless , or worse than .
Also, why send email , when the item is not coming today ?
With dpd , you get a text and a time slot .
Not impressed .
If I miss the delivery when I go out tomorrow , then so what. They'll have to rediliver to suit me. Rant over0 -
Phones/sims/apps/tariffs = can't cope. My present phone is a very (very) old one. It does have a camera (which I keep forgetting how to use) but it has no apps/features at all. My daughter says she is surprised it doesn't have a "dial" as it is so old. Both DDs want me to get a better one as I am always getting lost. I do have a plug-in satnav in the car but I have no spatial skills whatsoever so if I go to a strange town then I can be wandering round for ages trying to find where I've parked the car. Even in places I know, if I leave a shop by a different door to where I went in it often takes me several minutes to get my bearings. It usually just amuses me but there have been a couple of times when I have realised that I really am lost and felt a bit worried so can see the appeal of the GPS thing. Although I worked with computers for years and appreciate the benefits of new technology I don't really get what sim-only contracts mean. Isn't the sim the bit that holds the details (a bit like a hard drive)? I really need someone very patient to explain it to me (Not one of my kids then!). A bit more research needed. I do like Apple design (I only bought an iPod because of the design) but not sure I could justify the expense. It is functionality and price which is higher on the priority list.
Anyway AC, it all sounds very exciting now. Only a few weeks and you will be in your own place. I know you say you will miss the balcony but nothing beats having somewhere that's yours, with no landladies bringing random rugs etc. round.0 -

Dreaming, it's very simple really:
There are basically two types of mobile phone contract, the first is where you pay a monthly price over a fixed term, say 2 years, to buy a phone that is locked to a particular provider, and the contract price includes a sim card and an amount of call minutes/texts/data for your use without further charge. Just like the never, never except you do own the phone at the contract term end.
The second type of contract is called sim only because that is all you are buying, again the sim price includes an amount of call minutes/texts/data for your use without further charge. Sim only contracts require you to have your own unlocked phone to put the sim in to use it. (Unlocked means not tied to a specific network).
Hence sim only is much cheaper contract wise, but requires you to buy a handset or use an existing unlocked one. The other advantage of sim only is shorter contract periods, often as little as a rolling 30 days which makes changing networks etc. much easier.
That's as simple as I can do, hope it helps.0 -
Just been over to have another look at the bathroom
's nearly done . Looks great so far . Then I had another look around . I was over there for about 2 hours . I started looking at what could go where , and then you don't stopI must say , I do love the hallway when the lights are switched on . Just the effect I was after . A few pictures and a mirror and that will be sorted .
I think I could fit a small wardrobe in the gas room , and a sofa bed .
The new computer desk I got will go exactly where I want .
When I was in my last place , it was obvious I got very stale and had way too much stuff I didn't need and tbh I could've made a lot more out of the place than what I did . Now I have my chance to do everything once and keep everything as neat and tidy as I can always
If I can have the main bedroom and living room painted by Friday week then I really am kicking a@@se as the Americans say .0 -
Dreaming, if you don't use the mobile much, a pay as you go phone is another option.0

Dreaming, if you don't use the mobile much, a pay as you go phone is another option.
Actually, if dreaming was to update, I think this would be a sensible option .
I know it may not be mse rules , but I potentially have an iPhone I don't need anymore and if dreaming wants it ...0 -

Thanks everyone for mobile advice. It's nice to have an explanation without the sighing and eye rolling that I usually get with the kids (at least not that I could see). I have pretty much decided (as usual) that I really don't need a different phone from my old one. It's not that I'm tight (really!) but to be honest I hardly ever use it - it's more for emergencies in my opinion. Perhaps I should just get a very big ball of string to find the car again if I go anywhere new, or some breadcrumbs? I am better than I used to be though as I do try to look for landmarks to remember.
I hope when you get your new phone AC, that you take some photos of your new flat for us to see. I can remember the layout from Rightmove and can "virtually" walk through it with you but it would be good to see. We could have a virtual house warming. Or house warning as my friend's small child call it - maybe appropriately in the case of some parties I have been to.0
