Thanks folks for suggestions etc. When I’m in the right frame of mind I will contemplate my next move .
Regarding the gym . I don’t think there are any gym classes as such.
I could be wrong . What I may do is enquire about a personal trainer.
The prices won’t be too expensive as I have an introductory bookle with discounts . It is busy even when I go mid morning .
I may discuss with somebody who could give me yoga/ Pilates work with the usual stuff I do already . That may be a good motivation factor .
Apar from the runny nose and occasional cough I don’t feel as rough as first thing this morning .
I couldn’t go out today as amazon decided to deliver something for me today instead of tomorrow .
Hope you are all well . Can’t believe it’s over 2 years since I looked for guidance .0 -
I agree with Gingervamp and Mrs Porridge, bar work and voluntary work are good ideas for you, something different from office work.
Just had a thought, is the Lush headquarters still in Poole? Maybe you could get a job making bath bombs etc- not being facetious- as when I used to buy(afford) Lush products they had almost always been made by a male. Mind you, the smell in the Lush factory must be pretty intense.
Having given up work in 2015 to care for my mum, after working since 1977, I must say that I really miss it. I find myself envying anyone earning a wage. Working adds structure to life I feel.
Anyway, hope your cold soon improves A/C.0 -
Going back to the point about colds/flu, given your health condition might you be entitled to a free flu jab?0

Hi worrier:)
I’m not sure if that’s still going . I’ll bear it in mind .
Interesting about your take on missing work though. I found that over the years, the attitude towards good employeees has changed somewhat. There is no encouragement to work at my level . Well that’s what I found in London anyway . Everything has gotten Way too clinical , which makes me more clinical . I have to move on from the last place obviously , but the wages are not there anymore and the camerarderie seems to be gone . Since the recession it has been a case of take the crap or leave ..and good luck in finding another job for the salary you want .
I do understand though that work has a purpose as you are pointing out . It does get you interactive with people and stops you stagnating.

So today , I feel better. Just an occasional cough .
I do seem to be sleeping ok also .
Will venture out to the shops shortly . I have been going through the stuff in that boiler room . I know my next task for the week ahead.
Put cds and covers ( a job I started a few years ago but never finished) into large zip, pouches . 2 crate fulls.
I also have a plastic crate full of paperwork to go through and destroy
( remember the box files?)
The room will be ready later on to use as my computer/ music room
Funny thing is , when I start these things in my new surroundings , my mind goes into overdrive . For example , I did think of making my bedroom the office if you like . Then make the boiler room my main bedroom .
I should have my friend coming over to help with putting pictures up around the flat tomorrow . Last week I had everything in place.except special Rawl plugs for stud walls. My friend has some. I have had most of the flat done already but had essential ones cast aside till settled .
Tomorrow is the anniversary of me handing in my notice to my last employers . Can’t believe where the time has gone
Interesting to see how I fare this time next year . Hopefully not too stale . I’m enjoying the serenity at the moment , but obviously apprehensive about the coming months .
Soon be Christmas . Oops , now I’ve cheered you all up :rotfl:0 -
Friend came over for a few hours yesterday . Got a few pics on the wall but more need to be put up.
Still have cold . Not as bad . This morning was a little struggle to get out of bed for a change .
Almost finished tidying the boiler room . What I did do was to put my Mac mini into the living room . It is on its last legs due to updates as I mentioned way back.it fits nicely into my new unit in the living room.
Even the internet is slow on it despite being plugged straight into the router. The reason I put it in the living room is that it has a lot of music downloaded onto it that I can play whenever.
Speaking of Apple . I contacted their support as , when OS X 11 was updated to the phone/ iPad mini all music that was not purchased from the Apple store was dumped .only 1 album tha a friend bought for me was there . Lady from support was charming and helpful, but the music is not able to be retrieved . It will be when I get my new Mac . Just as well I have all my cds and not binned them for MP3 etc. One other thing : if you are an iPhone / iPad owner I advise you not to keep backup mode on permanently in the iCloud settings .
I thought it was the done thing . Best do it manually when required:mad:
So onto my new home . I love the living room . The kitchen and bathroom too . However, I may have made a mistake regarding the bedroom . The boiler room looks good , but I’m having 2nd thoughts about whether I should have put the wardrobe in there .
I’ve still got a bit of tidying up to do tomorrow in there to try and see if I can live with this arrangement . I have been looking online and apparently some wardrobes can be dismantled and reassembled at cost. Not 100% sure if it can be done , or if I should just forget about it . Looking again it does seem like I should have put wardrobe into main bedroom . That bedroom is a long and awkward shape .
I sleep ok , but the room feels a nit soulless . Something to mull over.
I’m not sure if I’m ready for gym tomorrow . I’ll sleep on it .
I will make a decision this week about my next step .
The good thing so far is, I’m not struggling too much with the steroid reduction apart from this cold . The other good thing is I’m not as out of condition as I was for a long time .
What needs to happen now k is I need a push from either a personal trainer or I’ll go to yoga for 1-1 sessions on a weekly basis .
If I don’t do something , I’ll get nowhere . We’ll see .0 -
Woke up this morning at 3.33 am . Yes really . Felt rough this morning. No gym obviously . However , I’ve just been to the post office to send the Bluetooth speaker to the winning bidder on fleabay.
The good thing is it involves walking down a steep hill. I walked a different way back which was uphill . A little breathless because of my cold . Another good thing I guess, is that my jeans are falling down these days . Embarrassing and awkward , yes. However the belly is still there and I look like a clown . Happy Monday0 -
Get yourself a belt or some braces! My husband wears braces these days, as he finds a belt often makes his back hurt for some reason.0
