i'm setting my target at £100 which will be a challenge as am taking OH out for dinner mid month for his birthday (in London argh!)
  • My month won't start untill the 1st of October (Monday) and will end on the 31st!! I usually budget £40 but as I know we are hosting a Halloween party I will up this to £45 to account my share of the bill for it (hoping it won't be more than a £5 as my share as I know last year we went a bit mad when we hosted the party :o ).
My overspend from Sepember is also getting taken out of this budget. It's a good thing we already have a good amount of drink for the party I think (southern comfort, rum, sake, tequilla, port, morgan's spiced, vodka etc we just seem to accumulate drink and I'm sure some people will bring their own too!!!)
Wish me luck as I don't know if I'll manage it hehe :rotfl: .
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
  • Just done my first shop for this months challenge. Nearly half my budget but was two massive shops with a lot of the foods we'll need for the month.

This time I've done my meal plans for the whole month and planned our 'treats' too, as I'm hoping to avoid the inbetweeny trips to the shops when we fancy something sweet. I always feel guilty that the kids miss out on our budget but I've some great little recipes up my sleeve this month from off here. :D

    MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE   £0/ £250

  • Managed to come under budget for September at £146.64. Have allowed £150 for October. Had a tesco delivery yesterday £67.00 and stocked up on shower gel etc at Wilco today also fruit and veggies on market. Am already enjoying a £50 per month reduction on spending and I do think I can cut this even more. Bought a portable tv for bedroom with savings so far so now planning what this will go towards next. Have plenty of meals in freezer and keeping to meal plans and spending diary. Well done everyone on here for all your help.
  • I'm in again this month, but I've had to put the budget up from £170 to £200 as I was way over last month.
The main reason for this is DS starting school. It's not just having to send him in every day with a packed lunch, it's the fact that his food consumption seems to have doubled overnight  .

I guess it must be all the brain activity using up his energy.

So my main task this month is to make more home made 'treats', I've perfected the healthy muffin, now I need to expand my repetoire a little.

I'm enjoying having an excuse to make cakes again - DH isn't really a cake person (how can that be  ) so I ended up eating most of them - now DS can help me out.

if you have any tesco points have a look at exchanging them for clubcard tokens ( worth 4 times what they are in vouchers ) there are quite a few restuarants in London that you can spend them in - good luck with the challenge xoopsx

  • Hi everyone.I'm going to have a go at this monthly budget for grocery shopping. My freezer is only half full so will be trying to stock that too!! My shopping just keeps going up and up at the mo.There's 2 adults 1 teenager and 1 11 year old here. I am also a big fan of healthy eating so refuse to buy cheaper junkier ready meals.

Good luck to everyone. Any help and advice welcome. I'll be starting 1st Oct
  • forgot to set budget. I'm aiming for £400.
  • Well I've done my online shop with Tesco. Tuesday delivery £3.99 but used a 750 extra points code. (Saving deals for car hire in Portugal next year). Cost was approx. £78.50. I'm doing a store cupboard challenge until the order arrives and then I'm left with £71.50 for milk, bread, fruit and veg until 31st October.
