hello my little budgeting chums. I,m in for this month and will try to stick to £80 this month, I,ve still got lots in the freezer but do need a fair bit of cleaning products and stuff like that so will have to be a bit extra careful to see this one through. Will do my main shop this week so best get my mocs in order. really will have to use up the Heinz spaghetti and fish fingers I bought for who knows what reason, as I never usually eat these things at all! I must have fell into a time machine and thought I still had kids to feed:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

This is my first Grocery challenge and Im not really sure how much we spend each month. I think around £400.00 so I will use that as my target and see where we get.
Its for 2 adults and 2 children (one still in nappies).
Thanks xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

ok have had to pop to asda already to get more milk for the kids so now know 6 pts lasts about 3 days for them, other milk lasting a little longer but got more of that too, came to 4.69 as dd wanted some plums and they looked so tasty. so far then thats 53.18 but I'm still determined. There loads of stuff I haven't used yet that had planned on like the cheese so might not need any next week.0

Although my October doesn't start untill tomorrow I have got to roll over the £1.93 onto Octobers as I said I would although I am going to round this up to £2. Also just ordered an organic box to be delivered on Thursday/Friday that's costing me £15 on the day which has:
potatoes (k)
onions
bunch carrots (k)
aubergine (k) (this will be replaced by something though as I'm not keen on them)
parsnips
cauliflower
leeks (k)
spinach (k)
lettuce (k)
round tomatoes (k)
regal prince apples (k)
conference pears (k)
bananas
satsumas (k).
Every effort is made to fulfill the forecast products and source local or Kent Produce identified by (k).
This is the first time I have ordered a veg box and I'm hoping I will be able to make this last 2 weeks with the exeption of the bananas which I will need to get more of from Sainsburys (use boyfriends 10% discount). I'm hoping that I will be able to switch mostly to the box sceame so I can lower my supermarket spending as I'd rather support locally while still buying organic produce.
Total spent so far for October = £17.
Total money left = £28.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
This is my first challenge.
Now i have split from my hubby money will be tight for me and my son, so i thought i would see how much i am spending.
I have been shopping today and spent £56 i am also plannining to cook more meals so should save alot of money. No more take-aways.0 -
Well, I aim to reduce original spend by £100 in October, as we are all now too comfortable with the £70 cut.
I hope to cut this amount even further by:
1. emptying the 2 small freezers
2. using up the 'Tesco on-line' tin mountain
3. making DS1 & DS2 contribute to meal planning / shopping lists instead of just opening the freezer and looking hopeful - I am NOT psychic! (OK, I told them I was when they were small and easy to predict...)
4. continuing to write down EVERYTHING, IMMEDIATELY so I can't lose the receipts!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Good idea MRSMACAWBER, I should do this kind of thing, maybe not savings though as I do have credit cards to pay but if I have any excess I should pay it them, even if it,s a small ammount. Just nipped down to Asda to get a few essentials e.g. toilet rolls, milk ect. and got a nice wee batch multigrain loaf for 10p, Berterolli olive spread, toilet rolls, milk and picked up a pack of floor wipes for a quid (shouldnt have bought these, lazy woman) this came to £4.46 then used 2x50p mocs and a 30p, so money out £3.13, not too bad.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

Hi all,
Well I went £10.15 over last month  (although was an expensive month with 2 birthdays). So aiming for £300 again for all food, cleaning stuff and toiletries for 4 people. Good luck everyone.0 -
Next shop with Mr T. online is tomorrow but I'm hopeful that it won't cost too much as DD3 is in Chicago intil Nov 4th, hence reduced budget.
Glad to see some additions to our flock and good luck to you all.
I've noticed that some of you are going to deduct overspends from the following months budgets. In my opinion ('umble of course) that could prove difficult to achieve as we are already on a very tight spending control. I think that once a month has finished then it is "Finished" and should be forgotten and then start the next one from scratch. Also conversely one could say that underspends could be used to bolster the next budget and that can't be right. Can it? Answers on a postcard please to Mr G. Brown. I'm told he knows a bit about budgeting. :rotfl:0
